Writing
Very good!
Can you define Narrative Writing? (Student raise his hand.)

Yes, Charles? Narrative writing tells a story. A story told

from one’s imagination is a fictional narrative.
A story about actual events is a nonfictional
narrative.
Excellent! I’m very glad to hear you can still
recall our previous lesson.
D. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
I’ll give you an answer sheet what you
are going to do is to list down descriptive
words as many as you can using the five (Students participate.)
senses. This can be done by group!

2. Presentation
What you did minutes ago was listing the
descriptive words as many as you can
using the five sense. Today, I will
introduce to you what Descriptive
Writing is all about. (Students observe.)
(The teacher presents her lesson through
powerpoint presentation.) (Students raise their hands.)
What is Descriptive Writing?

Yes, Adam Vincent? Descriptive writing expresses ideas and

feelings about real or imagined people, events,
and ideas. It uses precise language and
sensory expressions to create vivid images and
figurative language to express ideas in new,
fresh, and interesting ways.

In descriptive writing, you could start (Students listen.)

with the physical description – the details
of how your subject looks, sounds, feels,
smells or even tastes like. In other words,
Descriptive writing uses details and the
five senses to describe a person, place,
thing or event.
Using detail that attracts the five senses,
sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell will
surely set the tone right for a good piece
of descriptive writing. This kind of detail
will make the writing more interesting
and engaging. Proper word choice and the
use of adjectives are very important for
the reader to create a picture in their
mind. The details can be arranged in any
pattern you think is best. You can also
use metaphors, similes, hyperbole,
personification, and onomatopoeia which
helps your reader to imagine something
in great detail.
To be effective, a descriptive essay Has a clear focus and sense of purpose.
should have the following characteristics:
First, kindly read.

Which means the description of the

subject that the author used must clearly
so that the reader can understand it well.
When you first begin writing, it’s
extremely important to decide what your
topic is going to be. This will prevent you
from losing focus on the theme or main
idea of your writing. When you decide
what you are going to write about, you
can begin to add details about the specific Uses sensory details and precise words
event, object, or person.

Next, we have?

In most cases, you’ll use adjectives to

make your writing more detailed for the
reader. For example, rather than just
saying; The dog sniffs around, you’d say;
The big brown dog sniffed around the red
rose bushes in the front yard. The use of
“big”, “brown”, “red rose bushes”, and
front yard assists the reader in visualizing
the event and what the dog looks like.
This process will allow the reader to
create a mental image through the use of
your word choice. None, Ma’am
And lastly, we have presents details in a
logical order.

clear picture of the subject.
First, we have descriptive essay. What is
descriptive essay by the way?

Yes, Khim?

In this form of writing, a descriptive

essay presents a person, place, or thing, in
a way that readers feel as if it is in front
of their eyes, or that they can hear it, or
they can smell it. Writers use sensory
information to describe object. The object
of the writer is to present a picture of
something as honestly as he can. Okay,
for example, if your teacher asks you to
describe your favorite food, make sure
that you jot down some ideas before you
begin describing it. For instance, you
choose pizza, you might start by writing
down a few words: sauce, cheese, crust,
pepperoni, sausage, spices, etc. Once you
have written down some words, you can
begin by compiling descriptive lists for
each one. Then, you can use clear and
concise language, use your senses – if
you are describing something, you need
to be appealing to the senses of the
reader. In this explain how the thing
smelled, felt, sounded, tasted, or looked.
In writing descriptive essay, one of your Yes, Ma’am
goal is to evoke a strong sense of
familiarity and appreciation in the reader.
If your reader can walk away from the
essay craving the very pizza you just
described, you are on your way to writing
effective descriptive essays.

This can be done by either penning an

second form is travel essay.

might describe the sights they saw, what
they did when they were in a new place,
or how foreign places feel to them,
