Learning Task 1- Activating Prior Knowledge

Last time we discussed about what? The nature and background of arnis.

Okay, So, Arnis is also known as? Kali or Eskrima ma’am!

Now, Is there any question about our past lesson? None so far ma’am.

Learning Task 2- Motivation

May I Request everyone to please stand. I want you to find a


partner and face them then tap them in the shoulder and guess
your partners choice whether it’s a rock, paper, scissor. Learners are performing

This game is called “Tap and Guess.”

B. Lesson Proper

Learning Task 3- Activity

For our next activity, you will be group into three. Each group
will perform the following skills in arnis.

For Group 1, You will perform the gripping or proper hold of


the stick. Learners are performing
For Group 2, You will perform the salutation.

For Group 3, You will perform the basic stance.

After 5 minutes, you will present it in front.

Learning Task 4- Analysis

Okay Class, based on the performance of Group 1. That skill was


called Gripping.
Grip: Proper Hold of the Stick - Hold the stick one fist away
from the punyo (butt) of the stick. Close the grip with the
thumb.

Now, let’s proceed to the next group which is group number 2.


That skill was called Salutation.
Learners are performing
a. Handa - Feet are positioned shoulder width apart. - Stick is
held in front of the body.

b. Pugay - Place the weapon hand across the chest. - Bow by


bending at the waist.

c. Handa sa Paglaban/Fighting Stance - One foot in the front


(foot the same as the weapon hand), the other foot on the rear.
- Keep feet apart, distance of one foot. - Both knees slightly
bent. - Toes facing forward. - Weight evenly distributed on
both feet.

Please give a round of applause to group 2!

Okay, let’s proceed to the next group which is group number
3. That skill was called Basic Stance.

d. Forward Stance - Distance of 5 steps between the feet. - Learners are performing
Back leg kept straight, rear foot is held at a 45 degree angle. -
Keep the front knee bent. - Weight is evenly distributed on
both feet.

e. Backward Stance - Distance of 4 steps between the feet. -


Both knees are slightly bent. - Rear foot held at a 90 degree
angle.

Learning Task 5- Abstraction

Now class, who can explain how to perform the proper hold of
the stick?
Proper Hold of the Stick - Hold the stick one
fist away from the punyo (butt) of the stick.

Very good! Next, what are the three salutation in arnis?
Ma’am, Handa, Pugay and Handa sa
Paglaban or Fighting Stance.
Excellent! How about the two basic stance? How to properly
execute them?
Ma’am, In Forward Stance, you have to
distance 5 steps between the feet. Back leg
kept straight, rear foot is held at a 45 degree

While, in the Backward Stance, distance of 4


steps between the feet. - Both knees are

Now class, I want you to perform the fundamental skills of arnis


and show it to the entire class with music.

Directions: Write the correct term on the space provided.
