The Vision, Mission, Core Values, and objectives
of the Institution
INTRODUCTION

In the heart of every institution there are intentions, values, and

goals. Sometimes it is overlooked at and more often than not, you
decided to study medical technology at Universidad de Sta. Isabel
without having a peek at the institution’s vision, mission, core values, and
objectives but little did we know this serve as a backbone of every
institution. Since you are 1st year level students do you remember your
past school’s vision, mission, core values, and objectives? Every institution
has its own vision, mission, core values, and objectives which makes it
unique from one another.

Knowing the institution’s intentions, values, goals, and desired end

will provide us the very principle of what it stood for. To have a better
understanding as you start your Med Tech journey let us know the vision,
mission, core values, and objectives of USI.

This module will present you the concept of vision, mission, core
values, and objectives so that you will be able to understand the
importance of it in providing direction in every institution.

normal school for women in the
Philippines and Southeast Asia now
called Universidad de Sta. Isabel
celebrating its 152 years, The
National Historical Commission of
the Philippines (NHCP) also
declared USI as a National Historical
Landmark by virtue of RA 10086.

First let us define what is an EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION?

✓ Institution that provides education as its main purpose, such as

a school, college, university or training center.

✓ It is a place where learners of different ages gain education.

✓ Socialize people into useful members of society.

✓ There are two types of education:

✓ Vision should be clear, memorable, and concise with an average length of 14

words.

MISSION STATEMENT

✓ A mission statement is a one-sentence relating the intention of your institution

✓ Mission must be clear by using simple language with an average of 5 to 20 words.

VALUE STATEMENT

✓ Also known as the CORE VALUES it is a list of fundamental doctrines that guide
and direct the educational institution.
✓ This sets the moral direction of the institution and its academic community that
guides decision-making and provides a yardstick against any action.
✓ Values must be incorporated in all levels of the institution to give direction to its
engagement, viewpoints, and decision-making processes.
✓ Values statements consider the following questions:
a. What values are distinct to our educational institution?
b. What value should direct our institution?

OBJECTIVES

✓ Educational Objectives also known as GOALS are short statements that learners
should achieve within or at the end of the course or lesson.
✓ Objectives must be SMART:

Now that we know the importance of vision statement, mission statement, value statement, and
objectives in providing direction in every institution. Let’s get to know the very foundation in guiding
and directing our institution – Universidad de Sta. Isabel.

Vision
Universidad de Sta. Isabel is an
audacious Christ centered educational
and health care institution committed to
empowering communities of persons
into inner-directed Vincentian leaders,
compassionate healers who are
advocates of persons in poverty
situations and of God's Creation.

Mission
At UNIVERSIDAD DE STA. ISABEL, We commit ourselves to:

1. Courageously pursue value innovative educational programs and health services

for sustainability anchored in Christ.
2. Interdependently accelerate leadership and professional development through
continuing education and intensive Vincentian Formation.
3. Synergistically facilitate the integral development of the persons towards
transformation through current researches, relevant curricular offerings, quality
and holistic health care services, and responsive community extension services.
4. Relentlessly generate a new breed of self-directed, global and environmentally
caring Vincentian leaders and health care providers.
5. Ardently support one another in sustaining the shared mission.

Institutional Goals
1. Formation of holistic person capable of integrating interdisciplinary themes into
academic content with Jesus Christ as its foundation and inspiration in the pursuit
of the learner's ultimate end and the good of society.
2. Cultivation of human, Christian and Vincentian attitudes and values among
members of the school community in order to render essential service for the
Church and to society in the midst of ambiguity and changing priorities.
3. Development of institutional culture which promotes collaboration, co-
responsibility and solidarity in responding to the challenges of the shared mission
and faith-life integration.
4. Promotion of truth and knowledge through dedicated passion to research, critical
reflection, appropriate use of modern technology, creative and innovative
approaches to one's field of specialization, leading to the realization of outstanding
academic standards and effectual evangelization.
5. Active involvement in a strategic national and global capacity building towards
enhancement of quality of life, empowerment of people and the integration of faith
and culture in the light of the Gospel.
