DAILY LESSON LOG IN SCIENCE GRADE 10

FOURTH QUARTER SY. 2019-2020

Day/Date: MARCH 12, 2020 Teacher: JOMALYN Q. DADUYO

THURSDAY
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
the chemical reactions associated with biological and industrial processes affecting life
and the environment
B. Performance Standards The learners shall be able to:
using any form of media, present chemical reactions involved in biological and
industrial processes affecting life and the environment
C. Learner’s competencies The learners should be able to...
 apply the principles of conservation of mass to chemical reactions; and
S10MT- IVe-g-23-
 explain how the factors affecting rates of chemical reactions are applied in
food preservation and materials production, control of fire, pollution, and
corrosion. S10MT- IVh-j-24
*Specific Objectives ( 3
Skills a Day)
1. Cognitive* Discuss the chemical equation.
2. Psychomotor* Enumerate the parts of a chemical equation.
3. Affective* Relate the importance of studying the Chemical Equation.
II. CONTENT Topic: Chemical Reactions Sub Topic: Chemical Equation

Resources
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previews Provide review.
lesson or presenting the Let the students explain that a chemical equation is a chemist’s shorthand for a
new lesson chemical reaction. The equation distinguishes between the reactants, which are the
starting materials and the products which are the resulting substance/s. It shows the
symbols or formulas of the reactants and products, the phases (solid, liquid, gas) of
these substances, and the ratio of the substances as they react.
Let the students recall the symbols used in Chemical Equation.
B. Establishing a purpose to Provide motivation and introduction.
the lesson. Let the students watch a videoclip.
B. Presenting
examples/instances of the
new lesson
D. Discussing new concepts Discuss the chemical equation and explain the parts of a chemical equation.
and practicing new skills # 1. KEY CONCEPTS:
 A chemical reaction is often described by writing a chemical equation.
 A chemical equation uses either words or symbols and formulas to describe the
changes that occur during a chemical reaction.
 Every chemical equation must have:
 One or more reactants
 One or more products
 An arrow directing reactant to product
 If there are more than one reactants or products, the chemical
names/formulas are separated by a ‘+’ sign
 The chemical formulas in a chemical equation will often include the state of matter of
each substance
 (s) = solid
 (l) = liquid (e.g. water and oils)
E. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills # 2.

F. Developing Mastery Let the students explain this:

A coefficient is a whole number that is placed in front of the symbol of an element to
show the ratios of the different substances that are present in the chemical reaction.
G. Finding practical application Analyze the process of Chemical equation.
of concepts and skills in daily
living. A chemical equation that is complete except for coefficients is called an unbalanced
H. Making Generalization and equation or skeleton equation.
Abstraction about the lesson.
Example: Skeleton equation: H2 + O2  H2O Balanced equation: 2H2 + O2  2H2O

To balance a chemical equation, begin by counting the number of atoms of each

element in the skeleton equation.
I. A. Evaluate Learning Write the letter of the correct answer: (10items)
1. A chemical reaction is a process in which _______.
a. all reactants change state
b. products change into reactants
c. the law of conservation of mass applies d. all of these
B. Application Question: How will you apply the knowledge about the importance of understanding concept of
Chemical Equations to the daily situations?
I. Additional activities for Read more about the Chemical Eaquation.
Application or Remediation
