I. Rationale

The recent result conducted by Programmed For International Students

Assessment (PISA) showed poor reading literacy among Filipino and put them

last place in rank.

The said poor reading literacy of Filipino learners is observed even in

secondary schools. In fact, Philippine Reading Inventory (Phil- Iri) is also

implemented in Junior High School as stressed in DO 14 s, 2018.

In consonance to this, Calatagan National High School, even in times of

pandemic utilized different media platforms to address the issue on literacy.

II. Problem and Research Questions

This action research attempts to use different media platforms to address

the issue on literacy.

Specifically, this will answer the following question

1. Will the project AIM and CARESS TV using different media platforms be

effective to address the problem on literacy?

2. How would the students respond to the project?

3. Would they take it positively?

The project AIM and CARESS TV have no significant impact on the learners

improvement in reading

IV. Research Framework

This study uses the framework below. It shows the project AIM and

CARESS TV as the independent variable and the learners compliance to the

project as the dependent variables

This action research will utilize quantitative and qualitative method

The study will be conducted in Calatagan National High School among

2461 students.

The researcher will conduct different media platform such as google

zoom, google meet and even face-to-face to measure the reading ability of

students.

The researcher will utilize percentage scoring to weigh the effectiveness of

the project

Table showed that 20 non readers out of 2461 or .008% flourished to be

such in English and 7 non readers or .002% flourished to be non readers in

Filipino. That after five months of unceasing coaching and mentoring of the

respective teachers assigned to them, the target was successfully achieved.

The action done by Calatagan National High School language teachers

to students created a big success that the time of pandemic could not be

regarded as a hindrance to realize the vision and mission of Education on

literacy.

Finding

1. That the project AIM and CARESS – TV of Calatagan was a huge success.

2. That English and Filipino teachers joined effort to realize the aim of the

project.

Conclusion

1. The said project should be continuously done to help not the district but also

the whole nation to address the problem on illiteracy.

Recommendation

1. Project similar to this must be conducted by other schools within or outside

the district
