SKID OVERVIEW:
The skid has one inlet end connection & one outlet end connection, with as per process data flow
5000/1500/1000 SCMH through outlet and having skid design pressure of skid 49/19 kg/cm2g at -
29 to 65 deg C. The skid is provided with twin stream of gas conditioning unit (Cartridge filters)
along with twin stream Monitor pressure control valve with in built slam shut off valve, Active
pressure control valve &Creep relief valve for relieving of excess pressure is provided.
SKID PROCESS:
The system is Continuous operating type for Natural Gas Pressure Regulating skid.
The skid can be basically considered to be in mentioned section:
SKID SECTIONS:
a) Gas Conditioning: The system is having Dual stream Cartridge Filter arrangement for
filtration. The Cartridge Filter is so designed, as such at the entry of Natural Gas to Filter,
it will be obstruct by Borosilicate Glass Fiber elements for fine filtration.
b) Pressure Regulation: The skid is having Dual stream Pressure control valves with inbuilt
Slam Shut off valve. Pressure gauges are used at skid inlet & outlet of the skid for pressure
indication.
CONTROL PHILOSOPHY:
At the outlet of the system Pressure Gauge is provided for line pressure indication.
Lever operated Isolation Ball valves are provided at Inlet (IV-101) & Outlet (IV-109) of the skid. In
case of emergency these valves can be manually shut off to stop the inlet flow or isolate the skid.
Moreover, Other valves are provided in the skid for isolation & maintenance of skid elements.
Cartridge Filter:
Cartridge Filter is provided for liquid & solid particle removal. The Cartridge Filter is a Horizontal
vessel with Borosilicate glass fiber Cartridge type filter elements where in the incoming natural
gas is conditioned to remove moisture that has been condensed in the transportation pipelines.
The velocity of the gas is reduced and the moisture is separated from the gas.
1. Differential Pressure Gauge across inlet & outlet to measure the pressure difference across
the filter element.
2. Manual drain valve – to remove the accumulated condensate from the filter.
3. Manual Vent Valve – for removing excess gas.
During normal operation of skid, PCVA-101 reduces inlet pressure from 14 to 49 kg/cm2g to 4
kg/cm2 g (Set pressure of PCVA 101).
In case of contingency PCVA 101 fails, the pressure exceeds beyond 4.0 bar g & if it reaches up
to 4.5 kg/cm2g (PCVM-101 Set Pressure), PCVM-101 takes charge & delivers 4.5 kg/cm2g
pressure.
If PCVM-101 Fails, CRV-101 operates and pop up & relieves excess pressure greater than 5.0
kg/cm2g (set pressure of CRV-101 5.0 kg/cm2g)
If PCVA-101, PCVM101 & CRV-101 of main line fails & pressure increases up to 5.5 kg/cm2g &
tried to exceed, SSV-101 (Set pressure – 5.5 kg/cm2g) shut of gas flow through running stream.
As SSV trips, outlet pressure reduces & finally when outlet pressure reaches 3.5 kg/cm2g, PCVA-
102 activated (set pressure of PCVA-102 is 3.5 kg/cm2g).
Thus, similar flow of events condition 1, 2, 3 & 4 takes place in stand by stream as well
Note: CRV-101 (1% flow capacity) for Working & standby stream.
