OUTCOMES-BASED EDUCATION COURSE SYLLABUS IN GE6 (ART APPRECIATION)

I. COLLEGE
Vision : An innovative higher education institution moving towards autonomy and producing competitive graduates and global leaders.

products that empower graduates for local and global competitiveness.

a. Secure government recognition from CHED for all academic programs
b. Enhancement of materials and equipment to strengthen institutional and instructional needs

II. CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT MISSION:

The Criminal Justice Department shall develop competent and civic-spirited policemen-practitioners who can serve their community, responsibility, and contribute
better quality life. To live up to its solemn purpose, it is committed to:

1. Develop an understanding of constitutional guarantee of due process of law in so far as they affect the total administration
of justice.
2. Equip students the proper knowledge, skills and attitude for them to be proficient on the different fields of law enforcement.
3. Train qualified and competent manpower in the police system.
4. Encourage students to take the board examination for criminologists with full confidence.
5. Train and guide students to acquire proficiency in the police service.
6. Know the actual practice with high normal values and professional discipline.
7. Provide students a broad cultural background.

Common to the Criminal Justice Education

The minimum standards for the Criminal Justice Education program are expressed in the following minimum set of learning outcomes:
a. Conduct criminological research and further studies
b. Ensure public safety and order maintenance
c. Prevent, suppress and control crime
d. Investigate and detect crime
e. Enforce laws, rules and regulations
f. Protect lives and properties

Specific to the graduates of the BS Criminology Program:

Graduates of the BS Criminology program equipped with relevant knowledge, skills, attitude, and values shall be able to:

a. conduct criminological research on crimes, crime causation, victims, and offenders to include deviant behaviour;
b. internalize the concepts of human rights and victim welfare;
c. demonstrate competence and broad understanding in law enforcement administration, public safety and criminal justice;
d. utilize criminalistics or forensic science in the investigation and detection of crime;
e. apply the principles and jurisprudence of criminal law, evidence and criminal procedure; and
f. ensure offenders’ welfare and development for their re-integration in the community.

VII. COURSE DESCRIPTION : This is a three-unit course that develops students’ ability to appreciate, analyze, and critique works of art. Through
ddinterdisciplinary and multimodal approaches, this course equips students with a broad knowledge of the practical, historical, philosophical, and social relevance of the
arts in order to hone students’ ability to articulate their understanding of the arts. The course also develops students’ competency in researching and curating art as well as
conceptualizing, mounting, and evaluating art productions. The course aims to develops students’ genuine appreciation for Philippine arts by providing them opportunities
to explore the diversity and richness and their rootedness in Filipino culture.
VIII. COURSE CREDIT/UNIT : Three (3) units

IX. COURSE SUBJECT OUTCOME :

At the end of the semester, the students are expected to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of arts in general, including their function, value, and historical significance
2. Define and demonstrate the elements and principles of design;
3. Explain and evaluate different theories of art;
4. Analyze and appraise works of art based on aesthetic value, historical context, tradition, and social relevance;
5. Create their own works of art and curate their own production or exhibit;
6. Deepen their sensitivity to self, community, and society; and
7. Develop an appreciation of the local arts.
