General Instructions:
 All answers/solutions shall either be handwritten or typewritten and presented completely
and systematically.
 Again, your solution should be systematic/ step by step (start with identifying and
writing the given, then what is required, FBD, and so on).
 For typewritten (encoded), use LONG/LEGAL paper size (Portrait and 1-inch
all sides) with font style of Times New Roman or Arial and font size 11 or 12
and kindly arrange your answers/solution systematically. Highlight all final
answers.
 For handwritten, use white bond papers (any size will do) and kindly
write your answers/solutions neatly and systematically. Box all final
answers.
 Erasures and superimpositions are strongly prohibited.
 Problems, solutions and final answers shall be handwritten and presented completely
(Given, Requirements, Assumptions, Graphs, Step-by-step solution, etc.)
 Submit your answers in the submission folder at VSUEE/Moodle in PDF file.
 The deadline of submission will be until 5:00 PM on June 14, 2022 (Tuesday).

 For any questions or clarifications, kindly contact your instructor via email/messenger.

Answer the following:

1. A block having a mass of 20 lb slides down a 30° inclined plane with an initial
velocity of 2.5 ft/s. Determine the velocity of the block in 3 s if the coefficient of
kinetic friction between the block and the plane is µk = 0.25.
2. The 50-kg crate is pulled by the constant force P. If the crate starts from rest and
achieves a speed of 10 m/s in 5 s, determine the magnitude of P. The coefficient
of kinetic friction between the crate and the ground is µk = 0.2.

3. In an instant, the frictional driving force acting on the wheels of the 2.5-Mg van
is FD = (600t2) N, where t is in seconds. If the van has a speed of 12 mph when
t = 0, determine its speed when t = 5 s.
