M ay the 6th will see the Coronation of King
Charles lll as King of the United Kingdom
and Commonwealth. Although he became king on
Skelton 9:30am Coronation the death of Queen Elizabeth ll this is the

including becoming head of the Church of England.

Celebrating the Our churches will be celebrating the Coronation on

Skelton Parish Council Next meeting is the Annual Meeting 7pm
followed by Ordinary Meeting at 7:30pm on Thursday 18th May,
followed by a subsequent meeting on Thursday 22nd June at
7:30pm in Skelton Village Hall.
St. Giles Opening: Daily between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
Skelton Gardening Club: Our next meeting will be at 2pm on
Thursday May 18th in the village hall when our speaker, Roger
Burnett, will answer questions from our members in a ' Gardeners'
Question Time'. Visitors are always most welcome. There will be no
meetings in the hall during the Summer when we get together for
arranged garden visits. Our Autumn schedule will recommence on

Coronation Celebration Praise St. Giles’ Church Sunday
7th May at 9:30am Come and join us to sing your chosen hymns in
celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III followed
by fellowship and refreshments.

Skelton Social Running Group A casual running group meets on
Tuesday nights, 6.30pm at the green on St. Catherine’s Close. We
usually run 5km (3 miles) in a small group. Everyone welcome & if
enough people we can split into different groups for different

Skelton WI: 11th May, meeting held In the village hall at 7:30pm,
Resolutions Discussion followed by a Supper Evening. For more

Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every
two weeks. Borrow books, update your library card or York Card,
return books from any other York library, & request books to be
brought to Skelton. The library stops in Fairfields Drive from
2:40pm to 3:10pm and Brecksfield from 3:15pm to 3:50pm.

Skelton Parish Council are pleased to announce a new Council
and Community Notice Board has been erected at the entrance to
the Fairfield Croft development. The notice board is split into 2
sections with the lockable half reserved for Skelton Parish. Council

to post Agendas, Minutes and documents relating to the work of
the Council whilst the other section is left open for community
organisations to place information advertising local events.

Christian Aid Week 14th - 20th May This year our focus is on
those in Malawi who have been displaced by Cyclone Freddy
which lasted for 34 days. We aim to provide food, mosquito nets,
temporary toilets, water containers and seed which can be planted
in flood conditions. If you would like to contribute and help people
who have nothing please return your envelope to your collector's

Shipton by Beningbrough Parish Council Meetings are held in
person in the main room of the Community Centre at 7:30pm on

Shipton Space Café We have decided to continue with the
waitress service at the Tuesday Café. Everyone likes our friendly
staff. There are the usual delicious cakes and scones to go with the
tea & filter coffee. We will have ice cream and ice lollies as the
weather warms up. We also play TABLE TENNIS and Darts. CAFÉ
at Shipton community hall is open every Tuesday from 2:00pm-
4:30pm Tea / Coffee cakes and scones. Chat and friendship.
Shipton Cinema is on every 1st Friday. Doors open at 7pm for
7:30pm. Bring your own drinks. If you have any questions about the

Congratulations to the winners of the Shipton By Beningbrough
Playground March 2023 100 Club draw, drawn at the Parish

25th May from 6:30pm for the Annual Parish Meeting (finishing at 8
to be followed by the Annual Meeting of the Council). Light

speak to various organisations that we have invited who may have

Linton on Ouse Parish Council Meetings are held in person in
the main room of the Village Hall at 7:00pm on the third Thursday

in the VH Every 3rd Saturday of the month from 10am. Join us for a

Book of Remembrance: If you would like an entry for a deceased
loved one in the church’s new Book of Remembrance, please
complete the form on the church website:

cover calligraphy charges into the specified account. The book will
be on permanent display in the church.

Church opening hours: All Saints’ church is currently open from
11am to 3pm daily.
Foodbank Collection: Items for the York Foodbank can be left
inside at the rear of the church during any of the daily opening
hours of 11am to 3pm. Groceries of all kinds are welcome, but no
home-baked or other fresh food please. We will ensure the items
reach the Foodbank as soon as possible. Thank you for helping
those in need.
Newton-on-Ouse Allotments Association has vacant plots on its
site on Back Lane. Options, showing annual rental rates, are: half
plot £20, or quarter plot £10, with a one-off set-up fee of £10 in
both instances. If you are interested in taking on a plot please

Friends of All Saints 7:00pm on Thursday, 4th May: We welcome
James Brining, Artistic Director & Joint CEO of Leeds
Playhouse. James will provide an insight to Leeds Playhouse – its
origins and history, how it has changed over the years, the current
structure and policy and the approach to programming together
with an insight to the theatre’s civic function.
Friends of All Saints - Plant Stall - Sunday 21 May 2023, 10 am
to 3 pm, Village Green, Newton with refreshments to be available in
the Parish Hall. Timed to coincide with the period when we are all
looking to plant up our garden for the Summer, we have been
busy sowing seeds, splitting perennials and are generally hoping
that things grow and flourish in time for this date! Should you be
dividing plants, or growing more than needed, perhaps you could
contribute to the plants available or alternatively, come along and
fill your garden from our stall. There will be vegetables as well as
garden plants for sale.

Christian Aid Week is helping people like Esther Saizi in
Malawi. She and others are working hard to grow pigeon peas
and make bread for all their families. Christian Aid envelopes may
be delivered to your door, or could be found in the backs of the
Churches. Please make a donation to help the amazing work of
Christian Aid and return the envelope to Revd Trevor, Revd
Catherine, or Gillian H-D at Tanglewood, Cherry Tree Ave. Newton
on Ouse, or bring to the Coffee Morning at Newton Church on Sat.
