Skelton Parish Council The next meeting will be held in Skelton
Community Primary School on Tuesday October 9th at 7.00pm. The
meeting is open to members of the public & there will be an open forum
during the meeting. Agendas can be seen on our notice boards or web site
(www.skelton-york.gov.uk) around a week beforehand.
Skelton Gardening Club The next meeting will be held on Thursday
October 18th at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. There will be a talk by Tom
Cleaver on “Northern Gardens”. Guests and visitors are most welcome at a
small charge of £2.
Skelton Walking Group. Saturday October 6th. A generally level 5 to 6
mile walk from Great Thirkleby towards the White Horse followed by a pub
lunch. Meet on The Green at 9.30am. For further details ring 470241
Skelton Village Calendar now on sale in the Village Shop. Price is £5.00.

Harvest Festival & Supper will be held on Friday October 12th. Service in
St. Giles at 6.30pm, followed by supper in the Village Hall. Supper tickets-
adult £7.50, child £4 – available from Carolyn E 470125, Jill 470555,

Messy Church on October 6th has been cancelled. Our next Messy
Church will be preparation for Christmas at the beginning of December.

A Quiz Night will be held at the Forest of Galtres Golf Club on Friday
November 16th at 7.30pm. Tickets £7.50p.p. (includes food) Maximum 6 to
a team. Proceeds to St. Giles’ Church
The Young at Heart Group provides Ward subsidised lunches &
entertainment for older people who could struggle to get out regularly.
Meets at the Mitre Pub, Shipton Road on the 1st. & 3rd. Monday of the
month, 12- 3 p.m. Interested Skelton residents are eligible & are
encouraged by the Parish Council to attend. Further information, contact

Dog Fouling on the Pastures, Orchard Field & Playground Once again
this is becoming a serious menace. Complaints have been received from
the contractor about large amounts of dog dirt fouling the grass cutting
machinery. Owners are ignoring repeated requests to clear up after their
pets. This may be due to children entrusted with dog walking & whose
parents fail to ensure they obey the “pick up” rule, but some adults are
equally to blame. Some dog owners seem to think the area is provided
solely for them—wrong. These open spaces are registered as Village
Green available to all parishioners for recreation & it is undesirable for
grass cutting to end. On the Playground dogs must be on a lead & keep to
the path. This health hazard to the large numbers, particularly of younger
children must cease. Otherwise restrictions on exercising dogs may
require to be considered by the Parish Council.

Shipton Parish Council Community Centre Committee Room
Wednesday October 17th at 7.30pm.
The Coffee Morning will be held on Saturday October 6th at 10am at
Shipton Community Centre. All proceeds to Shipton Church. Home baked
Cake Stall, Refreshments, Raffle, Bring and Buy Stall. All Welcome.
Shipton Methodists soup lunches. You are invited to join us for on the
following dates. October 11th & 25th, November 8th & 22nd, December
6th. All at 12 noon & still only £2.50p. We look forward to seeing you.
Shipton Pre-School & Toddlers - end of year summary. Our village pre-
school has had a fantastic year. Over 30 children attend & we now have a
waiting list! Four superbly qualified staff ensured each child developed &
thrived in a caring & fun environment. Our manager has completed her
Foundation Degree in Early Years Childcare & Development. Many
congratulations Caroline! The new Pre-School Committee team of
Catherine Duck (Chair), Claire Allison (Treasurer) & Rebecca Shedden
(Secretary) are focusing on supporting the pre-school to even greater
success & it is appreciated that the village continues to support our events
& fundraising. Our Tuesday Toddlers & Babies stay and play session is a
very popular & friendly drop-in session & is open to everyone with under

Craft Club at Newton Autumn term of the Craft Club continues at Newton
Parish Hall on every alternate Tuesday (next meeting October 9th) at
2.00.pm.Cost will provisionally be £20.00 for the term, dependent on
numbers attending the initial meeting. A surplus of £26 from previous
funds was split between Children of Chernobyl & the Parish Hall funds.
New & younger members, Skelton & Shipton are most welcome to join our

The Annual Gift Day Coffee Morning will be held at The Old Vicarage on
Saturday November 3rd at l0.30am. There will be a Bring & Buy Stall and
a Raffle, everyone is very welcome. The September Coffee Morning
raised a good total of £130 – thank you to everyone who contributed in
any way
Newton on Ouse Parish Council The next Parish Council meeting will be

The Playing Field Family Fun Day, postponed until September 1st was
finally blessed with fine weather & a good time was had by all. £525 was

Montcony 2012 October 21st sees the ceremony to mark 70th anniversary of the YORK VAN CENTRE LTD
loss of a plane & crew from Linton which crashed near the village of Montcony in Main IZUZU Dealer
Burgundy. This led to organised resistance to the Nazi regime in that area. The fight
for freedom this started has been commemorated annually in Montcony ever since.
