Skelton 6.30pm Carol service with Communion, all are invited to come to the altar for a
mulled wine & mince pies blessing! And do ask the children to bring new toys,
let’s share the excitement!

Skelton Walking Group The next walk will be on Saturday December 3rd
and will be a 6.5 miles walk around the north of Easingwold. Mince pies
will be provided and the walk will end with a pub lunch in Easingwold.

Christmas Concert with the York Concert Band, Sunday December 4th
2.00pm to 4.00pm in Shipton Community Centre in aid of St Giles’ church,
Skelton. Come and hear a wonderful programme of seasonal music played
by this local band. Raffle donations welcome. Tickets: adults £7.50,

Christingle and Nativity Service Sunday December 18th, St Giles
Church, 3pm. Children please come along in costume, Mary, Joseph,
Angel etc & join our annual parade during the service. Stay for hot
chocolate and mince pies after the service. Any children who would like to

St. Giles' Church Gift Day. Thank you to everyone who gave so
generously on our annual Gift Day. Donations of £1,730 have been

Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two
weeks. As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your
library card or York Card, return books from any other York library, &
request books to be brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops
in Fairfields Drive from 2.00pm to 2.45pm & Brecksfield from 2.50pm to

Skelton Community Primary School is pleased to announce the New

Shipton Community Cafe - every Tuesday at Shipton Space, The Methodist
Chapel, 2pm until 4.30pm. Refreshments, homemade cakes, fresh produce,
tuck shop, gifts and cards. All ages welcome
Forest of Galtres Primary School We have just sent over 50 Christmas
shoeboxes to the Operation Christmas Child appeal: thank you so much to
everyone who has helped with this. After Christmas, we will be supporting
'Sal's Shoes', a charity which distributes good condition, used shoes directly to
children who need them so they can attend school. We will have a collection
box at the main entrance so please bring along any outgrown pairs!
If your child is due to start school next September, why not come along & visit
our friendly & welcoming school, rated Outstanding in our SIAMS (church
schools) inspection. We aim to nurture our children so they can thrive as they
grow through school; from December 1st, we will be an academy within the
Hope Learning Trust alongside Manor & Poppleton Ousebank schools. See

Shipton Playground Committee have secured funding from Hambleton
District Council 'Making a Difference' fund towards the Nest swing. We still
need to raise match funding for the remaining £1600. On Saturday January
14th we are holding a Jumble Sale, 10-4pm at the Community Centre to raise
funds. If you can help on the day, bake cakes to sell in the Cafe or donate

Cinderella Pantomime! Performed by the exceptional PendleProductions at
Shipton Community Centre, December 16th, 6.00pm organized by The
Friends of the Forest of Galtres Primary School. Tickets £6 available from the

you solve the clues to name the 50 mammals? Quiz sheets cost £1 with a £10
prize! Closing date for entries is 6th January 2017, so get one for the festive

Exchange Bookcase If you have any unwanted books (fiction, non-fiction,
biography etc.) we would be happy to put them on our exchange bookcase at
The Dawnay Arms, Shipton-by-Beningbrough. Customers exchange or donate
with all proceeds going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service (so far over
£700 raised in three years). Simply drop them off at the pub. Thankyou
Middleton School Foundation. Applications are invited for grants offered
from this Charity. Grants are available to persons under the age of 25 & who
live, or whose parents live, in the Parishes of Shipton or Overton. Grants are
available for costs associated with academic or vocational training. Grants are
at the discretion of Trustees & applications will not be considered for
expenditure incurred more than six months prior to the date of application.
Applications must include full details of costs incurred, proof of expenditure,
name, address, date of birth & an email address for any queries. Parents or
guardians may apply on behalf of persons aged 17 years or under.
