Hall, 7.30pm. A talk by historian Gillian Waters entitled "The Wars of the Roses

Skelton Walking Group. Saturday October 1st, meet at the village green by
9.30am for a six miles walk around the countryside north of Pickering, bring

Harvest Service Friday October 14th, 6.30pm in church with Rev. Gwynne
Wright. Followed by supper in the Village Hall. Guest speaker Rev. Rodney
Nicholson, talking to us about the history and the present day work of the

Carecent we will be collecting goods for Carecent throughout October. If you
would like to contribute, please see the list in Church for the items they most
need. Carecent provides breakfast, small personal items and requires men’s
jeans, sweaters, gloves and socks for the homeless in York
Yoga Class at Skelton Village Hall, Thursday afternoons, - 1.30pm. - 3.00pm.

Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two weeks.
As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your library card or
York Card, return books from any other York library, & request books to be
brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops in Fairfields Drive from
2.00pm to 2.45pm & Brecksfield from 2.50pm to 4.00pm. Mondays October

Skelton Community Primary School is pleased to announce that from
September 2016 a New Breakfast Club (07:30-08:45) & After School Club
(15:30-18:00) will be available at school Monday to Friday during term time,

St. Giles’ Churchyard, a very big thank you to the members of the Village
Trust and the church who have worked so hard again this year to improve and
maintain the churchyard. Thank you to Tony Castle (Tree and Landscape
Contractor) for the generosity and hard work with the trees in the churchyard

aid of St Giles church at Shipton Community Centre with the York Concert

SHIPTON WITH OVERTON NEWS
Shipton Parish Council Meetings, Community Centre Committee Room,
Wednesday October 12th, 7.30pm.
Shipton Tea and Chat Thursday October 13th and November 17th
between 2pm and 4pm at the Chapel
Shipton Community Cafe - every Tuesday at Shipton Space, The
Methodist Chapel, 2pm until 4.30pm. Refreshments, homemade cakes,
fresh produce, tuck shop, gifts and cards. All ages welcome
Shipton fun day organisers would like to thank all those who
volunteered, donated and supported this very successful event on
Saturday September 10th. They could not have done it without all of you.
A grand total of £720 was raised, to be shared between Shipton
playground, Shipton church and Riding for the Disabled
If you have any unwanted books (fiction, non-fiction, biography etc.) we
would be happy to take them and put them on our exchange bookcase at
The Dawnay Arms, Shipton-by-Beningbrough. Customers exchange or
donate with all proceeds going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service (so
far over £700 raised in three years). Simply drop them off at the pub.

Shipton By Beningbrough Playground Committee urgently need new
committee members, we only have a couple of meetings a year & the
roles are not too demanding when you have a few people helping. The
committee is currently made up of people who have children that are
grown up & no longer use the facility. Any parents that have younger

Shipton Pre-school. Our highly qualified Pre-school team offer fun
activities to Shipton Pre-school. Our highly qualified Pre-school team

Toddlers. This is a lively group for children aged 0-5 meeting each
Tuesday from 9.30 to 11.30 in the Community Centre & run by our Pre-
school staff. This informal group is designed to help toddlers with their
social skills whilst parents/carers can enjoy a coffee, chat & play. Drop in
for a FREE taster session & ask about our loyalty scheme. Babies under 9
months free!

The Coffee Morning held at Tanglewood raised an excellent total of
£108, thank you to all who attended and helped in any way
Church Yard Maintenance Day, November 5th, 9am - 12noon. The
Church Yard looks wonderful this year. Thank you to all our Grass Mowers
and Helpers. It would be nice to manage/cut back the Ivy and Tree
Branches. Any help would be much appreciated
