J UNE holds much promise, hopefully the gift of

the full blossoming of Summer, after a wet Spring,
and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.
WORSHIP CALENDAR
It will be really good to see the communities come
together for Jubilee celebrations across our villages

over the first weekend and first week of the

Communion It is important to remind ourselves of the original

Skelton Parish Council The next meeting will be held in Skelton
Community Primary School on Tuesday June 12th at 7.00pm. The
meeting is open to members of the public & there will be an open
forum during the meeting. Agendas can be seen on our notice boards
or web site (www.skelton-york.gov.uk) around a week beforehand.
Skelton (York) W.I.Next meeting June 14th in the village hall at
7.30pm. The speaker is Mr Richard Green on the renovation of
Holgate Windmill. Competition is 'Use your loaf'. Visitors always
welcome - please call 470994 for further information.
Skelton Walking Group meet on the Village Green at 9.30am on
Saturday June 2nd for a scenic 7.5 mile Jubilee Walk in beautiful
Nidderdale. Picnic lunch with panoramic views from Brimham Rocks.

Skelton Diamond Jubilee Gala Parade June 4th Led by a Pipe and
Drum band this free event will commence with a parade around
Brecksfield and Burtree Avenue from the School at approx. 1.00pm to
1.30pm. Everyone is cordially invited to join in. Fancy dress and
decorated bikes, prams and any suitable “wheelies” are especially
welcome. All participating children will be presented with a
commemorative souvenir gift. Hog roast tickets are now available from
the village shop or Ruth on 470762.
Skelton Calendar We are now receiving photographs for the 2013
Skelton Calendar to be published later this year by The Skelton Village
Trust & Friends of St. Giles. Let us have your photographs in the next
2 months for possible inclusion. Please note the Calendar will a First
Edition & also a Limited Edition. Why not order it now? £5 (on
delivery) & you can book your copy (or copies) in the Village Shop or
at Church (after Sunday morning Service). For further information

Skelton Village Trust has a vacancy for a secretary. The committee
meets 6 times a year and undertakes a number of projects and events
throughout the year. If you are interested in contributing to the life of
our village and particularly to the care of it character and heritage,

Diamond Jubilee Service of Holy Communion St Giles Church
Sunday June 3rd 9.30am. Please join us as the village community
comes together this weekend to celebrate this very special occasion.
Coffee and biscuits after the service.
Dog Fouling This is again becoming a disgusting blight in the village,
particularly along Moorlands Road verges and the Village Greens. The
Dog Warden has been alerted to prosecute offenders.

SHIPTON WITH OVERTON NEWS
Shipton Village Jubilee Day, Saturday June 2nd at Shipton Community
Centre & Sports Field. A day of fun & games for everyone - all welcome.
11.00 am treasure hunt around the village, 12 - 2.00 pm - picnic in the
park! - bring your own picnic etc. 1 - 4.00pm - various fun activities &
games, both inside and outside, 7.30pm party see below.
Celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at the Shipton Village Diamond
Jubilee Party in the Car Park at The Dawnay Arms on Saturday June 2nd
7.30pm. Tickets £12.50 includes Evening Supper and live music from 'The

Shipton Parish Council Community Centre Committee Room
Wednesday June 20th 7.30pm.
Coffee Morning. Thanks to all who came to the coffee morning in May,
together we raised £75. There will not be a coffee morning in June as this
is replaced by the Shipton Jubilee Day to be held in the Community Centre
and Sports Field from 11am on Saturday June 2nd. Cake Stall, and
refreshments will be served in the Community Centre from 12 onwards.
The next coffee morning will be held on Saturday July 7th at 10am at
Shipton Community Centre. All proceeds to Shipton Church. Home baked
Cake Stall, Refreshments, Raffle, Bring and Buy Stall. All Welcome.

Montcony 2012 October 21st sees the ceremony to mark 70th anniversary of the
loss of plane & crew which took off from Linton & crashed near Montcony in Wood Farm Bed and Breakfast
Burgundy. This led to organised resistance to the Nazi regime in that area. A group Shipton By Beningbrough, York
from Linton will attend the remembrance & build on links made with Montcony in
recent years. Anyone from the area would be welcome to join us. A display of
