Skelton Village Trust Speaker Evening Wednesday November 19th,
7.30pm in the Village Hall. "The Road to Success is Under Construction..."
Our speaker is Rebecca Thompson, Superintendent of Works, York

Skelton Village Walking Group. Meet at 9.30am, Saturday November 1st
on the village green for a six mile amble from Coneysthorpe along Slingsby
Bank to Park House and then return via Bog Hall. Pub Lunch afterwards.

Christmas Coffee Morning in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice Saturday
November 8th.10am to 12noon at 7 Pasture Close, Skelton. Come &
choose your Christmas cards, and small gifts with coffee & biscuits. Bric a
brac stall. Everyone who comes is in a free prize draw for a Christmas

Police Surgery for Skelton Ward The next surgery will be held in
Skelton Village Hall on Tuesday November 4th from 5.00 - 6.00pm.
Residents are invited to come along & talk to our Safer Neighbourhood
Officer, PCSO Grace Silvester about any issues
Yoga Class at Skelton Village Hall. The class started on September 11th
for twelve weeks and is Thursdays, 1.30pm - 3.00pm. There are a few
vacancies left, if you are interested please contact Breeda Dillon on 01904-
768873. (NB no class on October 30th which is the half term break.)
Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two
weeks. As well as borrowing books and audio books, you can update your
library card or York Card, return books from any other York library, and
request books to be brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops
in Fairfields Drive from 2.05pm to 3.05pm and Brecksfield from 3.10pm to
4.00pm. The dates for November are: Mondays 10th & 24th. For more

Skelton Squirrels Pre-school, Located in Skelton School from 9am to
3.15pm Monday to Friday. We offer a high standard of child care for

Shipton Parish Council Meeting in the Community Centre Committee Room
Wednesday November 19th at 7.30pm.
Tea and chat in the Chapel at Shipton Thursdays November 13th and December

Open Church and Gift Day, Saturday November 8th, 10-12 noon. Teas, Coffees &
Cakes Quiz & ‘Church hunt’, search church registers, other activities, Fairtrade stall.

York Minster have given us 10 free admission tickets for entry. If you wish to
borrow them they will be available at the Sunday services
Easingwold Foodshare Box for donations in church which is emptied every 4

Coffee Morning - NB No coffee morning at the Community Centre in November.
There will be a Christmas Coffee Morning on December 6th.
Fund raising coffee and cake morning in aid of cervical cancer, Wednesday,
December 10th, 10 - 12noon, at Rooms for All (formerly Vernon's), on the A19 just
north of Shipton next to the garage. Please join us for a refreshing cup of tea or
coffee and a delicious homemade cake for £2.50, with all proceeds going to the
Michelle Henderson Cervical Cancer Trust

Middleton School Foundation Applications invited for grants offered from this
Charity. Grants available to persons aged under 25 who live, or whose parents live,
in the Parishes of Shipton or Overton. Grants available for costs associated with
academic or vocational training & are at the discretion of Trustees & applications will
not be considered for expenditure that has been incurred more than six months prior
to the date of application. Applications must include name, address, date of birth &
full details of books, equipment or other expenditure including evidence of the
expenditure. Parents or guardians may apply on behalf of persons aged 17 years or

Newton on Ouse Parish Hall 100 Club. the lucky winners for the October
draw were: £30 – Colin Brining (number 36), £15 – Ann Brown (number 50),

Newton Walkers. If you would like some fresh air with good company, & get a
little bit fitter, then join the Newton Walkers. We usually meet on The Green in
Newton at 9.30 on the fourth Thursday of each month, & aim to walk about 5
or 6 miles in the glorious Yorkshire countryside, finishing with a packed lunch
or a bar meal. The last walk in 2014 is on November 27. All welcome! Details

Newton-on-Ouse Allotments. From time to time full & half plots become
available on the allotment field in Newton-on-Ouse. If you are interested in

Dog Fouling We have been alerted to this problem in the Churchyard. Please
help by keeping the gate shut. If you have to take a dog into the Churchyard
please keep it on a lead at all times and pick up after it.
