Skelton Walking Group. Please join us on Saturday June 2nd for a
moderate 6.5 mile walk from Nunnington via the Rye and Stonegrave.

Concert by the Tuesday Singers, Friday June 29th, 7.30pm at Shipton
Community Centre. This has become a popular annual event of the easy
listening songs you enjoy, sung in perfect harmony. Tickets are £7.50 and
include a glass of wine or elderflower cordial and supper. Tickets & details

Skelton Summer Festival Saturday July 14th 2pm-9pm. There will be live
music, bouncy castles, beer tent on the Pasture and a village quiz trail and
stalls from the village hall. This is being run by Friends of Skelton School
and we are also celebrating 50 years of the Skelton Village Trust.
The Blacksmiths Arms fundraiser Bottle on the Bar is now for
Macmillan Cancer Support. We will be supporting Macmillan for the next
few months until the bottle is full when we will have another fundraiser
night to end it.
Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two
weeks. As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your
library card or York Card, return books from any other York library, &
request books to be brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops
in Fairfields Drive from 2.40pm to 3.10pm and Brecksfield from 3.15pm to
3.50pm (Note new times). Mondays June 4th and 18th. For more

Skelton Primary School are seeking someone with a financial
background to become a volunteer Governor at our wonderful, small,
village primary school. The individual will work with our existing Governors
and Headteacher and will be able to bring their financial experience to the
role, offering advice and guidance on a range of school related issues. If

SHIPTON WITH OVERTON NEWS
Church repairs. One of the West stained-glass windows of Holy
Evangelists’, Shipton has been broken & needs repair. The cost may be in
the region of £2000 and, as it appears to be due to wear and tear, we
cannot claim on our insurance. If you feel this is something you would like
to contribute to please contact Rev Trevor or Kathy Peacock or Carole
Todd (Churchwardens). Many thanks in anticipation
Feeling energetic?! This year’s Shipton Bike ride will is on Sunday July
1st. Setting off as usual at the Dawnay Arms car park at 3.00 pm. Once
again various routes have been established. Returning for the BBQ at
around 5.00 pm. A great family event & fundraiser for the whole village
Shipton Space Cinema present Kinky Boots, Friday June 15th, 7.30pm.

and £2 per child are suggested for the raffle. Tea/coffee/sweets & popcorn,

Forest of Galtres Summer Fair, Sunday July 1st, 11.30am – 2.30pm at
the Forest of Galtres Anglican Methodist Primary School, Station Lane,
Shipton-by-Beningbrough. All welcome to join us for a variety of games
(including soak the teacher), stalls, refreshments, raffle, a climbing wall
and a bouncy castle.

Shipton By Beningbrough Playground Committee won the bid for
funds to repair the swings from Tesco bags of help. The swings have been
repaired. Thank you to all members of the community who voted for the
Playground by posting the blue tokens in the Tesco voting boxes
