WORSHIP CALENDAR
R emember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder
treason & plot. November for some reason is a time of
remembering. On the 5th, as the rhyme suggests, we

Christmas Concert by York Concert Band Shipton Community Centre,

Skelton Village Trust Speaker Evening Thursday 1st November at
7.30pm in the Village Hall. In Brave Company –The Making of
a Memorial: a presentation by sculptor and artist Peter Naylor about the
designing and building of the RAF 158 Squadron Memorial at Lissett
in East Yorkshire and the inspiration which led to it. Tickets £5 to include a
buffet supper and glass of wine or soft drink available from committee
members and the village shop.
Skelton WI Monthly meeting, Village Hall, 7.30pm. Next meeting, 8th
November, Annual General Meeting. Following meeting, 13th December,
Christmas Party. Visitors always welcome. Call 01904 470605 for further

Skelton Gardening Club, 3rd Thursday of each month, 7.30pm start. Next
meeting will be in November, with Barbara Hickman speaking about ‘Trees
for Small Gardens’. We have just started our new season & are always
pleased to welcome guests (£3) & new members (£15 for the year). We
have a good selection of speakers booked, host a bit of a do in January, &
organise two outings in the summer months. Please come along & join in.
Skelton Walking Group
Next walk, Saturday 3rd November, a 6 mile walk north of Easingwold,
generally flat with a number of stiles. Followed by a pub lunch. Meet at
Skelton Green at 9.30am. For further details ring 01904 470037.
Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two
weeks. As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your
library card or York Card, return books from any other York library, &
request books to be brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops
in Fairfields Drive from 2.40pm to 3.10pm and Brecksfield from
3.15pm to 3.50pm. Alternate Mondays, 5th and 19th November. For more

Skelton Community Primary School
Book Bus & Community Café We would like to invite members of our
community to come and visit the Book People Book Bus, in the school
grounds from 8.30 – 4.30pm on Tuesday 20th November, offering a wide
range of children's books at discounted prices. From 1.15 - 3.15pm there
will also be a community cafe in school & we encourage as many people
as possible to come along & visit our wonderful, village school.

New Shipton 100 Club – you have to be in it to win it!
The Playground Committee is excited to announce a new 100 club to raise
funds for playground maintenance & new equipment. A personalised
numbered annual ticket will cost £2.50 per month (£30 annually collected
up front) with a chance of winning a monthly prize. The monthly draw will
have a 1st prize & equal 2nd & 3rd prizes. All money paid into the 100 club
will be split 50/50 between the playground & winners. The more tickets
