Skelton Walking Group Saturday July 7th. Meet at 9:30am on the Village
Green for a moderate 6 mile mile walk around Goathland. Bring a picnic.

Skelton Summer Festival Saturday July 14th, 2pm to 9pm. There will be
live music, bouncy castles, beer tent on the Pasture and a village quiz trail
and stalls from the village hall. This is being run by Friends of Skelton
School. We are also celebrating 50 years of the Skelton Village Trust.
The Blacksmiths Arms fundraiser Bottle on the Bar is now for Macmillan
Cancer Support. We will be supporting Macmillan for the next few months
until the bottle is full when we will have another fundraiser night to end it.
Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton every two
weeks. As well as borrowing books & audio books, you can update your
library card or York Card, return books from any other York library, &
request books to be brought to Skelton for you to borrow. The library stops
in Fairfields Drive from 2.40pm to 3.10pm and Brecksfield from 3.15pm to
3.50pm. Mondays July 2nd, 16th, 30th and August 13th (NB no visit on

Skelton Primary School are seeking someone with a financial
background to become a volunteer Governor at our wonderful, small,
village primary school. The individual will work with our existing Governors
and Headteacher and will be able to bring their financial experience to the
role, offering advice and guidance on a range of school related issues. If

Celebrating Skelton on July 14. An exhibition depicting Skelton's history
and village activities today, marking the 50th Anniversary of Skelton Village
Trust. In the Village Hall on Saturday July 14th from 10.00am to 6.00pm
as part of the Skelton Summer Festival in association with the Friends of
Skelton School and the History Group. All welcome. Admission free.

SHIPTON WITH OVERTON NEWS
Church repairs. One of the West stained-glass windows of Holy
Evangelists’, Shipton has been broken & needs repair. The cost may be in
the region of £2000 and, as it appears to be due to wear and tear, we
cannot claim on our insurance. If you feel this is something you would like
to contribute to, please contact Rev Trevor or Kathy Peacock or Carole

Shipton Space Cinema presents, on Friday 27th July 2018, The Theory
of Everything – True story. Prof Stephen Hawking. Our tribute show.
PG12. Starts 7.30pm. Donations of £5 per adult and £2 per child are
suggested includes a raffle ticket. Tea/coffee /sweets & popcorn, soft
drinks & ice cream will be available during the interval. Bring your own

Shipton By Beningbrough Playground Committee won the bid for
funds to repair the swings from Tesco bags of help. The swings have been
repaired. Thank you to all members of the community who voted for the
Playground by posting the blue tokens in the Tesco voting boxes

Newton on Ouse Parish Hall 100 Club. The lucky winners of the Newton
on Ouse Parish Hall 100 Club in the June draw were Les Broadhead
(£35), Andrea Clark (17.50) and Martin Dukes (£17.50). Congratulations!

Newton-on-Ouse Allotments Association Open Day will be held this
year on Sunday 19 August, 2pm to 4pm, at the allotments site on Back
Lane. There will be produce, plants and cut flowers for sale, and
refreshments will be available. Everyone welcome.
Newton-on-Ouse Allotments Association currently has a half-plot for
rent on its allotment site on Back Lane. The annual rent is £20 with a one-
off set-up fee of £10. If interested please contact Kay Scott, Association

list if you are not quite ready to take on an allotment but would like to be
considered at some point in the future. We’d love to hear from you.
Church Coffee Morning on Saturday 14th July from 10.30am to noon is

by Mrs Harris-Douglas and Mrs Lavery. Raffle, bring/buy stall and home
