DISCIPLINE
Anthropology
Anthropology- is the scientific study of

humanity, concerned with human


behavior, human biology, cultures,
societies and linguistics, in both the
present and past, including past
human species.
ArchAeology

Archaeology-is the study of human activity through


the recovery and analysis of material culture.
The archaeological record consists
of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts, sites,
and cultural landscapes. Archaeology can be considered
both a social science and a branch of the humanities. In
Europe it is often viewed as either a discipline in its own
right or a sub-field of other disciplines, while in North
America archaeology is a sub-field of Anthropology.

GEOGRAPHY

Geography-Geography is concerned with


the Earth's atmosphere and physical surface,
including how humans affect those things and
in turn are affected by them. The discipline is a
mixture of physical geography and human
geography, making it both a physical science
and a social science.

History
History-has a base in
both the social sciences
and the humanities. In the
United States the National
Endowment for the
Humanities includes
history in its definition of
humanities (as it does for
applied linguistics).
However, the National Research Council classifies
history as a social science.

PSYCHOLOGY
Psychology deals with the human mind
and behavior, bridging the divide between
social science and natural science.
Psychology majors study human
development, social behaviors, and
emotions, which draw on social science
methods.

SOCIOLOGY

Sociology is the study of social life, social change,


and the social causes and consequences of human
behavior. Sociologists investigate the structure of
groups, organizations, and societies, and how
people interact within these contexts.
ECONOMICS

Economics is a social science that assesses the


relationship between the consumption and
production of goods and services in an environment
of finite resources. ... As in other social sciences,
economics does incorporate mathematics in the
theoretical and analytics framework of the
discipline.
LAW

Law is a system of rules and guidelines which are


enforced through social institutions to govern
behavior, wherever possible. It shapes politics,
economics and society in numerous ways and
serves as a social mediator of relations between
people.

LINGUISTIC
Linguistics is the science of language, and
linguists are scientists who apply the scientific
method to questions about the nature and
function of language. Linguists conduct formal
studies of speech sounds, grammatical
structures, and meaning across all the world's
over 6,000 languages.

POLITICS
Political science is the
social scientific study of
political institutions and
political behavior. ...
International relations
classes address issues
in foreign policy, international conflict and the
institutions intended to govern the interactions
between nations.
