MNHS Welcomes New Principal

With full delight and gratitude, teachers and students of Midsalip National High School bade
welcome to Madame Sofia S. Vailoces as she starts her new tenure being the new school principal of
the institution — Monday, October 17.

Mrs. Vailoces succeeded the legacy of the former principal, Ray Rosillosa who is now transferred to
another school during the reshuffling of principals.

“Luckily during the current reshuffling of principals, after 17 long years I was assigned to my
hometown Midsalip, and lead Midsalip National High School,” she revealed.

Meanwhile, with the current situation of the school, the 55-year-old principal calls for changes to be
implemented in the school such as the reconstruction of dilapidated buildings, new projects, and
many other things.

She also stated that she is presently changing the academic performance of teachers which includes
their punctuality, attendance, and their commitment to teaching.

“I can see now a big difference when it comes to the teaching performance of our teachers ever
since I assigned head teachers to monitor every grade level ensuring that the overall teaching
performance of our teachers does not fall behind,” she said.

Prior to her assignment to Midsalip NHS, Vailoces was assigned as principal in SAAVTS - Ramon
Magsaysay Extension for two years and two months.

She further revealed that the reason she was so eager to serve as the principal is because of the
Subanen people.

“I am inspired by the subanen students because my main purpose why I wanted to serve here is to
help my “kababayan” since I am also a member of the subanen tribe. A pure-blooded subanen”
Madame Vailoces sincerely shared.

“Hopefully I will be here until my retirement age of 60 because I am now 55 years old and I am
planning to retire from the service, with God’s will, as a teacher at that age.”

Vailoces taught English as her major subject during her time as a teacher after graduating with a
Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the University of San Carlos way back on March 27, 1988.
