Scout-THING

Forward!.......March!

These words of honor, echoed throughout the vibrant fields of MNHS, as the scouts from
yesterday, make a comeback in the present.

With their heads held up high, chests puffed, wrists on the forehead, the Boy Scouts of Midsalip
National High School, marked the whole campus with their strong will and sincerity towards the BSP
event. Proudly reciting their sacred oath, the scouts in their commando-brown colored uniforms, relive
the values of the previous generations such as respect and service to the community. Having witnessed
such displays of patriotism and leadership, the studs of MNHS are left in awe. That said, still a question
remains. What could have turned the little ember of their excitement into a burning passion as the
Scouting event returns?

“Ipangutana pa ba na? Syempre kay karon paman ni kabalik, ma engage pud kag samot uy!” said
by the MNHS VENTURER SCOUT, Kian James Baterna. Turns out, after two years of captivity by the
pandemic, there are a lot of school activities that he missed. This forced his creative mind to only
envision these events as the days went by. However, with the return of face to face classes, things took
a superb turn for him. Kian was thrilled with the sweet reality of having one of his favorite events even
from his elementary days, the BSP or the Scouting Event. His eyes glimmered with joy as he heard the
words, “Hapit na raba diay ang Scouting!” Well, you know what happened after, Kian enlisted and stood
as promising as everyone, holding the banner of equality, servitude to his people, and loyalty to his
country.

Still due to the recent pandemic, this year’s scouting is not as complete as before due to the
restrictions the school had to follow. This caused some activities like adventure hiking, where they
march from one hill to another, tree planting and the thrill of the previous scouting to disappear, making
the scouts breathe a sigh. Of course it is to be expected that things won’t retain their original peaks
because change is inevitable with COVID. However, this is not a big deal for all of our scouts including
Kian. For him, the return of such a precious event was already enough. Hence, at the end of the day,
MNHS could see the scouts including Kian, march forward to the new tomorrow of scouting.

It’s true that life is not as easy as chewing a gum, but still let us be thankful that we are given a
gum to chew on. Like the breathtaking return of classes. It’s not as perfect as before, however being
given a chance to still experience it is still a blessing in disguise. A blessing that has many more to offer
than what the eye can see. And Kian? Well, we can say that no matter how rough the water gets, his
passion for scouting will never fade like ashes from a fire. We can’t argue as that is Kian’s calling, a
“Scout’s Thing”. Live the life MNHS!
