Lesson/Topic: Unit 3 B ”The Three Bears”. (Part 2)
Learners' ages: 9-10
Grade:5th “a” grade
32 students

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:
*identify wild/domestic animals,
*get to know the new vocabulary of the new lesson and the translation of the text,
*summarize the text using the target vocabulary and find out the moral of the text.

Purpose of the lesson: to develop grammatical knowledge (Simple Past) through analyzing the
text, develop reading, speaking and writing skills through the activities planned for the lesson.

Materials: worksheets, a computer, projector, books, copybooks, pens, markers.

Assessment: Formative: Ss should be able to answer the teacher’s questions connected to the
text (part 1) using the target vocabulary

Procedures:
Mode: Whole class
1.Greetings
2. Organizational work (2 min)
3. Opening: Warm up: Remember the names of animals.
a) Watch the Video (Sway) Domestic and wild animals.(3 min)
b) Game: fill in the worksheet (Find as many animals as they can) (7 min)
4. Check the given homework: understanding of the text “The Three Bears” (Part 1) by
asking/answering questions. (5 min)
5. Introduce the topic of the day's lesson by telling the Ss that they are going to study the
second part of the fairy tale “The Three Bears”
6. Firstly, the Ss should get to know the new lesson by watching a cartoon (Edpuzzle) (10 min)
7.Write the target vocabulary on the writing board and give the needed explanations.
8. Reading and translating the text. (10 min)
1. Ask the ss to open their textbooks and read the text taking turns
a) while reading the ss should write down the verbs in the past tense finding their infinitives
b) pay attention to the new words.

9. Discussion (3 min)
10. After watching the video recording and reading the text ask the Ss to compare the video
recording and the text stating the similarities and differences between them.
11. Vocabulary Check-up
Ask the Ss to play a game: find pairs of given irregular verbs.

12. Home task: Translate the text “The Three Bears” (Part 2), Ex. 3, 4 (page 33) and do the

13. Wrap up (3 min)


*4 new words or expressions from the text
*3 new names of animals they learned
*2 adjectives best describing the lesson
*1 memorized sentence from the text
