SAMPLE OF A TRADITIONAL LESSON PLAN

Lesson Focus: Reading

Topic: Homes

Specific Learning Outcome:

At the end of the lesson students should be able to:

1. read and answer questions in the topic of Homes.

2. learn some new words from the text.

Previous Knowledge:

STAGES ACTIVITIES (TRADITIONAL)

Introduction

(5 minutes)  Teacher plays the game Simon says with the class to get them active.

 Teacher shows related pictures and tell the students about the topic.

Pre-reading  Teacher gives the students the main text and show the title on the slide. Explain the title and the topic.

(10 minutes)  Teacher shows on the slide a list of new vocabulary. Teacher explains the target vocabulary and drill with the class through an activity: teacher
shows 3 pictures illustrating the target vocabulary on the board, students race to the board one by one and slap the board.
While-reading  Teacher reads out the article for the whole class to read along.

(13 minutes)  Teacher asks the students to answer questions, then corrects one by one and provides explanations.

Post-reading  Teacher asks for students’ opinions of the lesson topic.

(5 minutes)

Closure  Teacher wraps up the lesson by asking what the students have gained from the lesson.
