Learning Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
• identify the adjective in a sentence.
• make their own sentences using adjectives

Learning Strategies:
• Group work

Teaching Aids:
• Powerpoint Presentation, bondpaper, and whiteboard marker.

Warm-up:
The teacher will introduce herself and will render at least 5 minutes to introduce students by their
nicknames.
The teacher will present the warm-up exercise via Powerpoint Presentation. The teacher will
show six different pictures that contains six adjectives. The students will then guess which
pictures matches the correct adjective. The teacher will introduce the topic “ADJECTIVE.”

Presentation Stage:
The teacher will read the meaning of Adjective and give some examples. After giving the
examples, the teacher will use the same adjectives to make sentences.
The teacher will ask five students to think of other describing words.
Now that the students have an idea of what adjective is, they are ready for the activity.

Practice Stage:
The lesson proper will be divided into three parts.
Part 1. (3 minutes)
The teacher will divide the class into four groups (16 students). Each group will have at least four
members. They will be given a clean bondpaper sheet for the activity.
The teacher will show a game called “4 pics 1 word” wherein students have to guess the adjective
that describes each slide. They are given 15 seconds to think and write. They will be scored 1
point for each correct answer. There will be five slides (smart, tall, blue, square, and happy).
(If students did not understand the instructions, Miyagawa-sensei will translate it into Japanese.)

Part 2. (3 minutes)
After the 4 pics 1 word game, the students will play another game which is called “Fact or Bluff” in
which students will guess if the words used in the sentences are adjectives or not. They will write
their answers in the paper provided for them.
(If students did not understand the instructions, Miyagawa-sensei will translate it into Japanese.)
Part 3. (6 minutes)
After the 4 pics 1 word game and fact or bluff, each group will make sentences using the five
adjectives from the game. Each correct sentence is equivalent to 2 points.

Production Stage:
The students will be instructed to go back to their original seats and will be given ¼ sheet of
paper.
There will be 10 sentences on the screen and they have to identify which ones are the adjectives

(If there is still time: The losing team with the lowest score will go in front and have to sing a short
English song (e.g., Happy Birthday, Rain Rain Go Away, etc.)

Post-activity:
No homework will be given for the demo but the teacher will give general feedback for the
students’ efforts and appreciation for joining the lesson.
