An Analysis of Technology Addition from Different Perspectives

Introduction

Since its creation, technology has had an enormous impact on humanity. It has revolutionized the

way the world works, from how people prepare their food to how they communicate with each

other. However, one of the most recent innovations in the last decades has been the invention of

smart devices, electronic devices that are usually connected to other devices and networks with

the ability to interact with its user. Some examples of these kinds of devices are phones, laptops,

smartwatches, tablets, etc., which are very useful when realizing daily activities such as checking

the weather forecast, checking the time, setting the alarm, chatting, making calls, or working.

However, it turns into a problem when the user develops a dependence on these devices,

spending too much time using the device and giving it priority over real-life situations; this is

when the usage of these devices becomes an addiction, the so-called technology addiction. This

issue is getting common among people nowadays due to the rapid expansion that smart devices

have had in recent years. Therefore, this problem has turned relevant for many scholars and has

been the study object of considerable research and experiments. Some of this research has been

included in this essay, which presents a broad and complete panorama of technology addiction
by analyzing and synthesizing works from different authors and different perspectives that

include clinal, academic, psychological, social, economic, and general points of view.

Furthermore, the present essay makes relations between these works and compares the results

and conclusions obtained in each article, thus presenting a deep and varied analysis of the

problem.

of the research in the field on their chosen topic? No.
Does this claim reveal something about the varying perspectives on the topic? What is the
thesis statement? The thesis statement is about technology helping but also being a health risk.
The author does not have a clear thesis statement but has a topic in mind. The topic has two
perspectives either for or against it. The thesis statement is not directly stated but is sort of its
not well defined

2. The author needs a revision of the thesis. The author’s idea seem to be unclear, but they
should try to make the thesis direct.

touch on the differing viewpoints on this topic. The author presents different points of views on
the topic and do not present an argument which is good for this essay.

4. Does the author use correctly cited paraphrases, summaries, or direct quotations from his/her
sources as evidence? No
The author use more defining the argument or making these statement about the paper is about
rather than mentioning technology. The author does not use direct quotations and I think the
use is fair, they should just add a few more sentences that explain the analysis of the topic.

5. Are the sources peer-reviewed? No sources were mentioned and needed to mark them in the
text. The sources need to be peer-reviewed.

6. Where could the author use more detail to further illustrate his/her claim? In the beginning.
Where could the author use examples to demonstrate his/her point? Second paragraph.
The author could use more details after their direct quotes to further explain the analysis of the
source being used.

Mark in the text where the author tends to be subjective. They can be more reliable by adding
more of their own words on top of the direct quotes.

8. Does the author have solid topic sentences that contain only one main point? Technology is
good rather than bad and is not mentioned if we will focus on what side the is focuses to talk.
Does the author maintain that focus throughout the paragraph? No.
The author does not have a solid topic sentence that contains the main topic of the essay. They
do not maintain the focus of the point in each paragraph.

9. How is the essay organized? It is unclear if it is a comparison the author organizes the essay
based on ideas. The author's essay is organized upon ideas, and they should try to emphasize
it the perspectives on the topic a little more.

the good things and briefly mentioning the bad things of technology The author has a clear
main topic.
