Assessment 2. Study the objectives of elementary, secondary, tertiary, and non-formal

education (alternative learning system): You are accorded the opportunity to choose
alternative path in school administration, in classroom teaching, or others, for job
enrichment and advancement. In which level would you choose to teach and why?

Answer:

It takes constant work and commitment on the part of teachers to make sure that
their students fully grasp every academic concept. Therefore, when teachers are given
the responsibility of teaching in a formal school, it is crucial to identify and understand
the objectives. All of the official education levels provide difficulties for me. However, if I
had to pick a level to teach at, I would unquestionably select secondary education.

In order to understand the needs to become a secondary education teacher, one

must be aware of its objectives first. The goals of secondary education are to maintain
and advance those of elementary education as well as to identify and develop each
student’s unique talents and interests in order to give them the tools they need for
successful endeavors and get them ready for tertiary education. Meanwhile, the
objectives of elementary education that should be further developed in secondary
education are to provide knowledge and learning experiences, develop skills, attitudes
and values, as well as promote the student’s knowledge and love for nation as well as
work experiences. At the end of every school year, these are my aims for each of my
students if I became a secondary teacher.

Analyzing these objectives, I am certain that I am capable of attaining these goals

for my students. As an individual who is fully committed to reach what I am expected to,
I know that I will be able to do this because I have the right skills and values needed to
be a secondary teacher. For instance, I am supportive of younger people’s passion, and
I am sure that they would not be fearful of sharing their aptitudes and interests with me
as I will help them further develop those. Aside from this, I am a person who checks out
people around her just to make sure they are doing well. If I became a teacher, I would
not let my students feel like they do not belong to our group. Lastly, I would provide
them with learning experiences that would surely help them once they deal with the real
world.

In conclusion, I would love to become a secondary school teacher if I were given

the opportunity as it combines objectives for both elementary and secondary education
so it would feel as if I was also teaching in elementary school. Although tertiary
education is beneficial, I believe that secondary education is ideal for me since I interact
better with others who are much younger than I am. That is why I choose secondary
education.
