has been performed, following special tools are required to perform a DRM update procedure:
1. Internet connection established with either
- cellphone providing internet connection via USB cable, or
- USB to Ethernet Adapter for wired connections.
1.4 Reason
This Component Engineering Bulletin (EBC) covers a software update for Learjet 75,
a/c MSN 45-469 based on a customer request for niceview 3D optimizations, and various improve-
ments.
1.5 Description
1.5.1 Description of Component
The Configuration Software Data Base (CSDB) contains software for the components within the nice
In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) and Cabin Management System (CMS). The following table provides an
overview on the LRUs affected by this EBC with their appropriate button on the Graphical User Inter-
face (GUI):

1.5.2 Description of Modification

The following changes are incorporated within the new CSDB:
BDP3009 [media center]:
- 25Hz refresh rate for PAL DVD playback added
- Update process improved
- sequesnce time for moving map auto mode changed
- moving map Points of Interests displayed in miles instead of km
- Flight info banner added to moving map
DIS1010 [-]:

The software, contained in this component, is defined as Level "E" according to RTCA DO178B.
Therefore no further substantiation of compliance is required.
The technical content of this EBC must be reviewed and accepted by Learjet.

It is estimated that 4 man-hours will be required to accomplish and test this modification.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
This modification shall only be performed by an authorised aircraft maintenance station.
NOTE: All work (processes and procedures) described in this paragraph must be performed accord-
ing to Standards Manuals shown in section 1.11 "References".
NOTE: Do not remove power from the a/c or individual units if not required by the procedure. A loss
of power during the update procedure may result in a damaged LRU.
NOTE: Figures in this document do not reflect the current display on the main control panel (galley
control panel) and are intended as reference only.
3.1 General/Preparation
1. Gain access to the CMS maintenance panel (A5238) located in the flight deck center pedestal, aft
vertical surface
2. Power up the cabin and wait until the nice system is booted completely and the main control
panel (galley control panel) shows the main screen (refer to figure 1)

3.1.1 Access to the cms equipment page

On the main control panel (galley control panel):

1. Navigate to the [equipment] menu by pressing the equipment symbol (refer to figure 2)

3.2 Configuration Server Database Update Procedure

This chapter provides a procedure to install the new AIRCRAFT Configuration Server Database
Rev. Tag: (CSDB) onto the configuration server, which is located on the ethernet interface unit.
1. Within the cms equipment page, navigate to item [system software] (displaying the current sys-
tem software p/n)
2. Insert the USB memory stick into the USB port on the CMS maintenance panel (A5238).

3. Wait for the [system software] item to display "update available" (refer to figure 3).

4. Select the "system software“ item to bring up the "csdb update" page/ menu (refer to figure 4).

5. Verify display to show:

6. Press button "update" to start the automated update procedure
7. The status changes to "updating" and the feedback is indicated at the progress bar (refer to
figure 5)

8. Wait for the update to be finished (total time for update approximately 5 min)
9. Wait for the status to change to "done - remove usb stick" (refer to figure 6)

10. Remove the USB memory stick from the USB port
11. Wait for "csdb update" screen to vanish and the "cms equipment" page to show up
12. Follow section 4.1.1 "system software (Configuration Server Database)" and ensure that the cor-
rect config database is reported prior to proceed with section 3.3 "Preparation for the automated
system update procedure"
(verify update p/n SCDLJ75-0469-C is reported on the "system software" entry)
3.3 Preparation for the automated system update procedure

WARNING: ENSURE THAT AIRCRAFT POWER IS NOT INTERRUPTED DURING THE PRO-
CEDURE. OTHERWISE LRUS MAY BE DAMGED BEYOND FIELD REPAIR.
3.3.1 Preparation and information for DRM update

In case any exchange of the
media center (BluRay Disc Player, p/n BDP3009-001-001),
fwd bulkhead decoder (Ethernet Decoder Unit, p/n EDU3009-001-001),
iPod/hdmi encoder (Ethernet Encoder Unit, p/n EEU0910-001-001),
xm encoder (Ethernet Encoder Unit, p/n ) EEU0910-001-001, or
pcu core seat (PCU Core Module II, p/n PCS3009-001-001)
has been performed, a DRM update procedure is required:
1. Establish an Internet connection for the DRM update via the USB port on the CMS maintenance
panel (A5238).
3.4 System update procedure

The automated System Update will be performed automatically without any additional user interac-
tion and will sequentially update
all LRUs,
all necessary DRM files,
and terrain data for niceview 3D.

3. Verify that the displayed status is "update required" (refer to figure 7) or "incomplete" (refer to
figure 8)
NOTE: After a new CSDB has been installed, it may take up to 5 minutes before the status of the sys-
tem and each LRU has been updated. During this time the status might be reported as

"ready" although an update is available and required.
In case the GUI does not indicate one of the above mentioned states, the system did not find
any package to be updated. In this case no update can be performed.

4. Select the item [system] to get to the "cms update" page (refer to figure 9)

5. In case an internet connection to the DRM License Server is required for the update, establish the
connection in reference to section 3.3.1 before continuing with this procedure
6. Select [update]

of LRUs scheduled to be updated)
NOTE: In case the update page reports
active: 1 or 2
pending: 9
for more than 20 min, the APA3009 may require repower.
Remove power from the APA for about 5 sec (CB 71 and CB 227 on P9)

The APA3009 will reboot again and the automated update procedure will proceed.

8. Once the update of the EIU is started (last LRU to be updated) the GCP will go blank
9. Wait until the main screen is shown again (refer to figure 1)
10. The system update update is completed.
3.5 LRU Update Procedure

Despite this system update procedure, a dedicated LRU update procedure may be used as an alter-
native. It is described in the Lufthansa Technik Functional Procedure Description C-ABK766-UG-001
(Software Load Procedure for niceHD on Learjet 70/75).
3.6 System Reset

Shut down the system for 10 s and start up the system again.
This power cycle shall ensure that normal system operation is provided after multiple unit resets.

4. ACCEPTANCE TEST PROCEDURE
All parts within the nice system are capable to report the current software p/n to the main control
panel (galley control panel).
4.1 Verification of the modification
If not explicitly mentioned, all tasks are to be performed at the main control panel (galley control
panel).
1. Navigate to cms equipment page (refer to section 3.1).
4.1.1 system software (Configuration Server Database)
1. Navigate to item system software
2. Verify following indications:
- p/n: SCDLJ75-0469-C
3. Return to previous page.
NOTE: If the wrong p/n is reported, repeat the update procedure (section 3.2).
4.1.2 LRU status verification

1. Navigate to "cms equipment" page (refer to section 3.1)
2. Verify item "audio amplifier" indication of status "ready"
3. Repeat step 2. for all installed LRUs (refer to section 3.1.2, table 1, #4 to # 18).
4.2 Close-up
1. Turn off system.
