My understanding for passing the Praxis Core exam in Nevada is important for education
majors who are willing to continue their studies with a bachelor's degree at the University of Las
Vegas, Nevada State College, or the University of Nevada, Reno. This test includes three
portions which are math, reading, and writing. You are allowed to take each test individually or
all at once if you feel prepared to do so. Each one has a different scoring for the Praxis exam. In
Nevada for Early Childhood Education, a passing score for writing is 162, reading is 156, and
math is 150.
Preparing for the Praxis Core exam caused me a lot of stress, even though this was a
practice exam. Before taking the exam I took a couple of hours of my day to take practice
quizzes on Khan Academy. It was difficult for me to stay focused and stay in one sitting while
studying. Reading through the requirements for Nevada for this exam stressed me out even more.
In reality, I did not give myself enough time to prepare myself like I would have liked to exceed.
After viewing all three Math, Reading, and Writing scores, my overall performance needs
significant improvement. For my Math score, I received a 37%, for Reading I got a 14%, and for
my Writing score, I got a 48%. Taking the time to process my test scores gives me an idea of
how much I need to prepare for this exam in order to get my bachelor’s degree at UNLV. All
As of now preparing for the Praxis Core Exam I will need to find different ways to make
myself take focus and not be overwhelmed. I will continue taking practice tests on Khan
Academy and other Praxis Prep websites. This experience taught me to take my practice test in a
quiet environment other than my home. In order to stay focused and not get easily distracted. I
hope to create or join a study with education majors studying to pass the Praxis exam.
