THESIS ABSTRACT
PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF ONLINE VIDEO PLATFORMS (OVP)
ON KINDERGARTEN PUPILS OF GREEN MEADOWS ACADEMY
IN DAVAO CITY AS PERCEIVED BY PARENTS
S.Y. 2022-2023

Bachelor in Elementary Education

The aim of this study was to determine the psychological effects of

online video platforms on kindergarten students as perceived by their
parents. A survey questionnaire was administered to the parents of the
kindergarten students of Green Meadows Academy to collect data. The
survey included questions that focused on the factors influencing their
children, the type of videos they watch, the video platforms they use, and
the perceived changes in their children's behavior.
Results showed that the majority of the kindergarten students
were watching videos online, with educational videos being the most
commonly watched type. The study found that parents perceived
changes in their children's behavior as well as reduced interest in other
activities. However, the study also showed that parents believed that

online video platforms had positive effects, such as improving their

children's language and cognitive skills.
The findings of this study suggest that the use of online video
platforms among kindergarten students can have both positive and
negative psychological effects. Parents and educators should be aware of
these effects and take appropriate measures to limit the children's
exposure to online video platforms and monitor the content they watch.
Further research is needed to explore the long-term effects of online
video platforms on the psychological development of young children.
