IV. Present Perfect Transformation
1. S + started + V-ing. ➔ S + has / have + V3/ed .
Ex: I started learning English five years ago. ➔ I have learned English for five years.
Tom started working as a tutor last month. ➔ Tom has worked as a tutor since last month.
2. S + last + Vpast simple . ➔ S + has / have + not + V3/ed.

A. Definition
Câu tường thuật là câu dùng để diễn đạt ý kiến, lời nói của người khác bằng từ ngữ của bản thân.

B. Changes in reported speech
Trong câu tường thuật, thường thì đại từ nhân xưng (Personal Pronoun), thì (Tense), từ chỉ thời

⚫ Mệnh đề định nghĩa là mệnh đề dùng để giải thích, cắt nghĩa cho danh từ được bổ nghĩa. Câu

⚫ Mệnh đề không định nghĩa là mệnh đề dùng để bổ sung thông tin cho danh từ được bổ nghĩa.
Nghĩa câu không bị ảnh hưởng khi bỏ đi mệnh đề này

_ Danh từ trước nó là tên riêng.
Ex: We have visited Tina, who had an accident two days ago.

1. WHICH
Đại từ quan hệ “which” dùng cho danh từ chỉ đồ vật hay động vật.
Ex: _ The accident yesterday was very terrible. It was caused by two trucks.

2. WHO / WHOM
⚫ Đại từ quan hệ “who” “whom” được dùng cho danh từ chỉ người. Trong đó, “whom” chỉ thế

Ex: Do you know this man? He helped my grandmother to pass the street yesterday.
➔ Do you know this man, who helped my grandmother to pass the street yesterday.
Mrs.Hong is a doctor. My father works with her in Dong Nai hospital.

3. WHERE
⚫ Trạng từ quan hệ “where” thế cho “giới từ chỉ nơi chốn + which”
Ex: This is the house. I used to live when I was young in this house.
➔ This is the house where (in which) I used to live when I was young.
4. WHEN
⚫ Trạng từ quan hệ “when” thế cho “giới từ chỉ thời gian + which”
Ex: _ I look forward to the day. I will graduate on that day.

5. WHOSE
⚫ Đại từ quan hệ “whose” thế cho tính từ sở hữu (my, your, his, her, its, our, their) hoặc sở hữu

Ex: _ I know this man. His daughter is my son’s friend.

6. WHY
⚫ Trạng từ quan hệ “why” thế cho “for + which”
Ex: _ I want to know the reason. You leave without saying goodbye for this reason.
➔ I want to know the reason why ( for which) you leave without saying goodbye.

7. THAT
⚫ “That” dùng để thay thế cho “which” “who” “whom” trong mệnh đề xác định hoặc đứng
trước tổ hợp danh từ có cả người và vật. Mệnh đề không xác định (được ngăn cách bằng dấu
phẩy) sẽ không sử dụng “that”.
Ex: _ I have make friends with ones that (who) come from Canada.
_ This is the place that (which) I want to visit.
_ I know this man and his dog that usually walk in the park near my house.

⚫ Đại từ quan hệ “Which”, “Who”, “Whom”, “That” có thể bỏ đi nếu chúng là túc từ trong
defining clause.

⚫ Có thể rút gọn mệnh đề quan hệ khi đại từ quan hệ làm chủ từ:
_ Nếu động từ không đi với động từ “to be” thì ta đổi động từ thành V-ing.

The police has captured the thief who broke into my neighbor’s house last night.
➔ The police has captureed the thief breaking into my neighbor’s house last night.

Music influences people in different ways or the same person differently at different times.

Pronouncing a language is a skill. Every normal person is an expert in the skill of
