Bibliography: "What are the similarities and the differences between the 4 types of tissue in
the human body?" eNotes Editorial, 24 Sep. 2015, https://www.enotes.com/homework-

1. Make a conceptual map for epithelial and connective tissues that include their characteristics,
classification, functions, and examples for each.
2. Compare the different types of muscle tissue by filling in the table:

3. Draw a neuron, and then label and describe its three parts (cell body, dendrites, and axon).

Cell body: Contains most of the cytoplasm and the nucleus of the neuron.

Dendrites: Are short, highly branched processes that branch off the cell body, and they are the major
receiving or input part of the neuron, and they conduct signals towards the cell body.

Axon: It’s a long, singular process that conducts nerve impulses away from the cell body.

4. Write a reflection on the similarities and differences among the different human tissues.

They are similar because each and every type of tissue is responsible for specific functions that
promote the health of the body. They all help with the functioning of our body whether it’s voluntary
or involuntary, however, the way they operate differ from each other. For example, the epithelium
tissues provide protection from the outside world, usually through the skin, and can absorb, filter,
and secrete; while our connective tissues cushion and protect organs, provide internal support for
organs, and store nutrients. The same way nervous tissues conduct neural pulses from organs to our
brain and can be found in our nerves, spinal cord, and brain, and without any of this happening the
muscle tissues wouldn’t facilitate body movement and help transport blood, food, and waste
through our body's organs in addition to helping in mechanical digestion.
