II. RATIONALE:
Test Item Analysis will be accomplished right after the quarterly examination. Item analysis is intended to
assess and improve the reliability of the tests. If test reliability is low, test validity will necessarily also be low. This is
the ultimate reason you do test item analysis - to improve the validity of a test by improving its reliability. It is a
process which examines students responses to multiple choice test items in order to assess the quality of those items
and of the test as a whole. Item analysis is specially valuable in improving items which will be used again in later
tests, but it can also be sed to eliminate ambiguous or misleading items in a single test construction, and identifying
specific areas of course content which need greater empahsis or clarity. Item analysis uses statistics and expert
judgment to evaluate tests based on the quality of individual items, item sets, and entire sets of items, as well as the
relationship of each item to other items. It “investigates the performance of items considered individually either in
relation to some external criterion or in relation to the remaining items on the test” (Thompson & Levitov, 1985, p.
In response to this, the Pagsilaan Elementary School will conduct a re-orientation on the Item Analysis
Making on April 25, 2023 at Pagsilaan Elementary School at 3:00 pm in the PES conference hall.
