RECTILINEAR MOTION

Presented by: Cloudine Robin

OBJECTIVES
understand the concept of relative motion .
know the distinction between distance and
displacement.
understand the concepts of average velocity and
average speed.
be able to solve simple velocity or speed
problems.
RECTILINEAR MOTION

Linear motion, also called rectilinear motion,

is one-dimensional motion along a straight
line, and can therefore be described
mathematically using only one spatial
dimension.
RECTILINEAR MOTION

An object is said to be in a rectilinear

motion when two objects are moving
in a straight line and are parallel to
each other.
TWO TYPES OF LINEAR MOTION
UNIFORM LINEAR MOTION NON UNIFORM LINEAR MOTION

WITH CONSTANT VELOCITY WITH VARIABLE VELOCITY

Uniform motion is the Non-uniform motion is the

UNIFORM RECTILINEAR
MOTION-URM

it is a rectalinear motion with no

acceleration(zero acceleration)
it is a rectalinear motion with
constant velocity

position, or time, or velocity
