Methodology

Research Design

The descriptive-evaluative method is appropriate in this study. The descriptive research method
refers to the method used to describe data, characteristics, and population. The descriptive part of the
study specifically deals with describing and analyzing the data gathered by giving proper interpretation so
that findings and conclusions are to be derived at.

Subjects of the Study

Respondents in this study were one hundred forty (140) selected Grade 12 students from all

sections of Dr. Jose P. Rizal Senior High School, S.Y. 2019-2020. They will be asked to answer the

checklist-questionnaire.

Determination of Sampling Techniques

The Stratified random sampling technique will be use in this study to determine the number of the
student-respondents involved in this study. Not all Grade 12 students at Dr. Jose P. Rizal Senior High
School would serve as respondents in this study. However, the samples to be taken are expected to
possess characteristics identical to those of population.

Research Instrument

The main tool that will be use in this study is a questionnaire-checklist. The questionnaire-
checklist is constructed for the student respondents. Part 1 of the questionnaire-checklist is the student’s
profile such as name, age, gender, and academic performance in Practical Research in Grade 11.

Part 2 pertains to the students capabilities in writing a research proposal.

The indicators in Part 2 of questionnaire will be rated using the following rating scale with the
corresponding verbal interpretation.

5 - Highly Capable

4 - Capable

3 - Moderately Capable

2 - Slightly Capable

1 - Not Capable

Research Procedure

The original title of this study proposed by the researcher was checked, revised, and re-checked
by the research adviser to maintain conformity on the subject of research.

A questionnaire-checklist that aims to draw out proper responses to the objectives of this study
will be constructed. This questionnaire-checklist was presented, analyzed, and checked by the
researcher’s adviser to ensure validity of responses it would elicit.
The permit to conduct the research and study on the subject school was secured form the
Administration of Dr. Jose P. Rizal Senior High School. The researcher administered the questionnaire
and with the help of some friends, retrieved the accomplished questionnaire.

The data gathered were checked, tabulated, and analyzed using the statistical tools described in
this chapter.

The significant findings of the study will be presented to the teachers and school authorities.

Statistical Treatment of Data

The data gathered were tabulated, analyzed and interpreted using the following statistical tools.

1. Profile of student-respondents Frequency, and Percentage

2. Academic Performance in Practical Research in Grade 11 Percentage

3. Capabilities of students in writing a research proposal Weighted Mean

4. Significant difference in the level of research capabilities t-test
