presentation. (10 points each)

1. What have you observed in the video presented and identify some achievements in the field of
science and technology?

 The video gives off the impression of nostalgia. It was quite sentimental, nevertheless I
also found the distinctions between the Philippines back then and now have observed
the development of various remarkable places here in the Philippines. The
achievement I have seen in science and technology is the improvement of these places
over the years. Just like Vivid Viejo in 1960, we see that the mode of transportation is
through animals, especially horses and carabaos. Also, there are still no skyscrapers
blocking the view of the sky just like the Ayala Avenue, could have thought it still has a
room for improvement like what we see in the present when back then it already had a
portion of being advanced. Along with other places, the Philippines has undergone
obvious changes from an ancient society to a modern one. These changes are changes
brought about by science and technology. Even then, the technology is still not
capable of the changes we have now. However, over the years, human intellects have
become more and more powerful and immeasurable. This is how they produce and
improvise so many technological and scientific achievements that have a great impact
on our society. Decades can certainly make a difference, we never know what could
happen in the next ten years, we may be living in a high tech industry making many
machines that could make our daily lives easier. We will never know what the other
world holds, although we have said that we are still only the beginning of what science
and technology can do that could lead to the ultimate world success.
2. What do you think are the major contributions of the Philippines to the field of science and
technology at present?

 The Philippines have made several contributions in the field of science and technology
in the present because I believe that Filipinos have the capabilities to make a change.
When it comes to characteristics, Filipinos are truly hardworking that is why there are
several Filipino inventions. To name a few, there is Dr. Raul Destura and his team who
developed the COVID-19 test kits another, are the De La Salle University (DLSU) team
of biomedical engineers, under the direction of Dr. Nilo Bugtai, who has developed
AGAPAY, which is a robotic exoskeleton prototype with a biofeedback mechanism for
the rehabilitation of stroke and injury victims by assisting motor movements in the
shoulder, arm, and hand. Many Filipino inventors continue to manufacture cutting-
edge materials for a variety of uses, including electronics, energy storage, and
biomedical equipment. These innovators have demonstrated that the Philippines is still
a global leader in science and technology. With assistance and exposure, these
remarkable ideas might help ease many of the country’s challenges. On the other
hand, Philippines is such a hospital country thus, is also known in Business Process
Outsourcing services because the workforce is an expertise in customer service,
software development, and other information technology-related services. Also, many
of the highly qualified and well-recognized medical experts working in hospitals and
clinics around the world are from the Philippines, which boasts a highly trained and
respected healthcare workforce. The nation is a pioneer in medical research, especially
in fields like tropical medicine, research on infectious diseases, and cancer. Considering
these facts, the Philippines consistently leads the world in contributions to science and
technology because Filipinos have highly developed minds that have the potential to
significantly progress the requirements of humanity.
