Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
Good morning class, I'm hoping that Good morning, Sir .
you are all doing fine and be able to
surpass another day in this subject. Let
us all begin this discussion with a
prayer.

Okay, please pick up the scattered

pieces of paper under your desks and
settle down.

I'll be checking your attendance so

please say 'here' if you're around.

I really appreciate a hundred percent Thank you, Sir.

attendance from your class this
morning.

Are you ready for our discussion class? Yes, Sir.

Okay then, we will start this with a
simple task.

B. Motivation
The teacher will introduce an activity
entitled "leave an impression" wherein
the teacher will show a picture of a
place which will be described by
students by providing a complete
statement or sentence.

 You have learned that when we tend Adjectives and adverbs, sir.
to describe things, there are figures
of speech involved, what are
those?

 Okay, so what do adjectives and Adjectives modify nouns or

introductory part of this lesson, what
do you call an adjective or an
adverb that describes a word?

 Do you think we always modify a No, Sir.

word using adjectives or adverbs
correctly?

 Alright, very good. Oftentimes, we

tend to misplace modifiers in our
sentences which may lead to
confusions and that's what we are
going to discuss this morning,
misplaced modifiers.

C. Lesson Proper

A modifier that is incorrectly placed is

called a misplaced modifier. In most
cases a modifier should be near the
word or phrase it modifies.

If a modifier appears in the wrong

place in a sentence, the meaning of the
sentence may be confusing.

Example 1.
Charles saw a dog on the way to the
library.

Note: This sentence seems to say that

the dog was going to the library. It’s
unlikely that a dog would go to the
library. It really means Charles was
going to the library. The sentence
should be rewritten as:

On the way to the library, Charles saw

a dog.

It would be even more confusing if

there were two humans in the
sentence.

Example 2:
Charles saw Ava on the way to the
library.

Note: This sentence says that Ava was

going to the library, which is possible. If
it was Charles who was going to the
library, the sentence would be clearer
this way:

On the way to the library, Charles saw

Ava.

Here are the tips on how to place

modifiers correctly.
1. Always place modifiers as close as
possible to the words they modify.

When you place modifiers too far

away from the words that they
modify, you change the meaning of
the sentence, creating what is called
a misplaced modifier error.
Example:
Confusing: The supervisor told me
they needed someone who could
type badly (modifier).

Is the supervisor's need urgent, or The supervisor's need urgent,

does the supervisor need someone Sir.
who struggles with typing?

Better : The supervisor told me they

badly needed someone who could
type.

2. A modifier at the beginning of the

sentence must modify the subject
of the sentence.

If you use a modifier at the

beginning of your sentence to
modify a word other than the
subject of your sentence, you create
a misplaced modifier error.

Example:
Confusing : Wearing (modifier) high
boots, the snake failed to injure the
supervisor.

Is the snake wearing high boots? No, Sir.

Better : Wearing high boots, the

supervisor was protected from the
snake.

Or : Because the supervisor was

wearing high boots, the snake did
not injure her.

Did I make myself clear? If there's Yes, Sir.

any question don't hesitate to raise it
here, okay?

Do you have any clarifications? None, Sir.

If none, let's try some items to

assess your understanding
regarding what has been discussed.

Recommendation/Comments:

1. From the word itself - detailed lesson plan, the previous LP was not
detailed as it should be. Like on the motivation part, there is only a phrase
'presents a picture, then what's next? The motivation part is crucial in doing
a lesson plan even during the instruction because one of the major tasks of
a teacher is to grab their students’ attention from the start of the lesson.

2. Key concept and lesson proper must have been included as parts of the
previous lesson plan.

3. Student's involvement on the previous LP should have been allotted extra

time.

4. Proper formatting of the texts and spaces should be considered.
