Lesson # 6.2- Monitoring and Evaluation of Learner Progress and Achievement

ASSESSMENT

Direction: Observe and discuss how your resource teacher monitors the following

Seatwork/Worksheet:

- Teacher monitors this by checking out the paper of her students one by one
and asking them if they’re having a hard time answering or understanding the
situations or questions asked to them.

Students’ comprehension during the discussion:

- Teacher monitors this by questioning her students and letting them answer
one by one to better understand if they’ve learned deeply her discussion, and
then interpreting or comprehending deeply the answers of her students if their
answers really hits the question

Examination:

- Teacher monitors this through giving her students an objective type


accompanied with a subjective type of exam like giving them multiple
choices, identification plus an essay type exam to better understand if the
students really gets her discussion and also to get her students opinion or
understanding on the questions about their subject.

Homework:

- Teacher monitors this through giving her students a homework that is related
to their recent topic of their subject and then collecting this one after a day of
which on the exact schedule of their subject in order to check if who hasn’t
able to answer their assignment and then in order to check the answers of her
students.

1. How are you going to evaluate and monitor an advisory class? Give examples
to substantiate your response.
- I’m going to evaluate and monitor an advisory class by visiting them from
time to time after my class in order to check them of how they’re doing in
class, also, by asking their other subject teachers of how well or poor they’re
doing in their classes in order for me to track of how they progress in their
other classes as well.

2. In the context of students’ learning, in your opinion, what is the most effective
strategy for evaluating and recognizing students’ accomplishments? Why?
(Support your answer with your readings/ references)

- In my opinion the most effective strategy for evaluating and recognizing


students’ accomplishment is through returning their own papers in order for
the students to know how well and poor they perform in class together with
giving them a positive follow-up feedback because doing this kind of gesture

insures that the students confidence would boost more and that they would
be more motivated to cooperate in classroom activities and be more engage
to perform well in class.

3. Discuss the importance of providing constructive feedback to students to


improve their learning.

- Providing constructive feedback to students to improve their learning is very


important in order for the students to know how well and poor they perform in
class and /or how accurate and inaccurate their work is, in order for them to
reflect on their learning and their learning strategies so they can make
adjustments to make better progress in their learning.
