c. Evaluate the academic text according to its features;

A. Introduction What I need to know?
How will you present the lesson to all types of learners?
 The learners will do the walkthrough of the lesson expectations.
 In this part, the content of the lesson will be presented.
 Learning objectives will also be introduced to guide the learners on the learning
targets founded on KSAV principles.
What’s new?
 The learners will be asked what reading materials they are fond of.
 They will share something about the reading material or text that they like the
most.
 They will answer the questions and write it in the Activity sheet #1.
B. Development What I know?
How will you develop the content as part of the enabling and foundation skills? How will you develop
learners’ mastery of the given competency?
 The learners will answer a crossword puzzle in Activity sheet #2 where they
have to showcase their learned ideas from the previous lesson.
What’s in?
 The learners will be asked about the factors or their considerations whenever
they read a certain text.
 They will formulate their own rules in reading an academic text in Activity
sheet #3.

What is it?
 The learners will be provided with reading materials on the features of
academic text.
 To strengthen the points of their personal reflection and further develop their
knowledge about the nature of academic text based from the What I know?
activity, the learners will proceed with reading and personal discussion on the
language and text structure across discipline.
 To develop more their understanding, the learners will read examples of
different academic and identify their structures. If they have internet access,
they may check examples of different academic texts.
 Dictionaries and/or context clues may help them in developing their
knowledge, skills and attitude/values about the topic.

C. Engagement What’s more?


What appropriate pedagogical or real-world tasks and learning opportunities will be presented and
implemented for all learners to learn?
 The learners will do/perform the activities indicated in the module. These
varying activities will set the students in the realm of academic text.
 The learners will read an essay about health and fitness. After reading, they will
have to complete the table in the in Activity Sheet #4 about the features of the

essay.
What I can do?
 The learners will write a short essay in Activity sheet #5 about the current
situation we are all in.
 They are expected to reflect on their own essay and be mindful of not just the
technical aspects of it but more on its message to convey to the world.
What other enrichment activities can I engage in? (Additional Activities)
 To further enrich learners’ knowledge, skills and attitude/values (KSAVs), they
will need to write a one-sentence message in Activity Sheet #6 that they will
have to post on their social media account. The message shall be related from
the essay they have written.
D. Assimilation What I have learned?
What are the ideas or contexts that will be assessed and processed so that learners can assimilate and
refine their knowledge, skills and attitude/ values?
 Highlighting the concerns each and every one of us need a lot these days, the
learners will leave a short personal message in a form of a video. The message
shall show the content/purpose, subject, structure, language, and even the
mechanics completely and correctly. They can refer to Activity sheet#7 for the
instruction.
 They are expected to relate their learned features to their personal lives.
