Level Progression

Young Learner Courses

At the British Council, young learners are organised into classes by both age and language level, to
ensure groups are of similar maturity and level for the best possible classroom experience. The
normal progression would be for a learner to change levels once per year, assuming he or she has
attended and worked sufficiently to make enough progress in their skills and acquire enough new
language. It would be very unusual if enough progress could be made in fewer than 3 or 4 terms.
However, if a learner shows us that they are ready, we never hold them back from the level they
deserve.
The exception to the average progress of once per year are the Secondary levels B1 and above.
These higher levels take much longer to complete, as per the official Cambridge chart, and so we
offer them as 2-year courses.
Different topics and language points
are covered in the different years,
which can be taken in any order.
The hours in this chart are ‘Guided
Learning hours’ and it is expected
that learners will also study
independently to progress at this
rate e.g. by completing homework,
revising what has been studied in
class, reading extensively, and
exposing themselves to English
media such as music and television.

‫في المجلس الثقافي البريطاني‪ ،‬يتم تقسيم المتعلمين الصغار على أساس المرحلة العمرية والمستوى اللغوي للتأكد من أن المجموعات على نفس مستوى‬
‫اآلداء األكاديمي والنضج الفكري لضمان أفضل تجربه تعليمية ممكنة‪ .‬التقدم المتوقع إحرازه هو أن ينتقل الطالب لمستوى أعلى مرة واحدة لكل عام‬
‫أكاديمي واحد بشرط حضوره كافة الدروس و العمل على إحراز التقدم في أكتساب المهارات واللغة‪ .‬من غير اإلعتيادي أن يحرز مثل هذا التقدم في‬
‫أقل من ثالث إلى أربع فصول شتوية‪ .‬على الرغم من ذلك‪ ،‬إذا أبرز الطالب تقدما ملحوظا‪ ،‬فإننا نحرص على أنتقاله للمستوى الذي يستحقه‪.‬‬
‫اإلستثناء الوحيد إلنتقال الطالب لمستوى أعلى مرة واحدة لكل عام أكاديمي واحد هو المستوى اللغوي ‪ B1‬وما يليه‪ .‬هذه المستويات اللغوية تتطلب‬
‫فترة أطول إلحراز التطور اللغوي وذلك طبقا لالئحة كامبريدج الرسمية للتقدم اللغوي‪ .‬و لذلك فهذه المستويات تقدم على مدار سنتين كاملتين من‬
‫الدورات حيث تتم دراسة موضوعات ومحتويات لغوية مختلفة يمكن للطالب دراستها في أي ترتيب‪.‬‬
‫الساعات المذكورة في هذه الالئحة هي الساعات‬
‫المقترح أن يقضيها الطالب في التعلم بمساعدة‬
‫مدرس‪ .‬كما من المتوقع أن يذاكر الطالب بشكل‬
‫مستقل لتحقيق هذا المعدل من التقدم من خالل‬
‫عمل الواجب ومراجعة ما تم دراسته في الفصل‬
‫والمطالعة ومشاهدة البرامج باللغة اإلنجليزية‪.‬‬
