IV. PROCEDURES

DAY 1 (GUIDED CONCEPT EXPLORATION/INDIRECT INSTRUCTION)

A. Reviewing previous PRELIMINARIES:

lesson or presenting
the new lesson 1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Checking of Attendance

Activity 1: Danger Zone

During a typhoon, the NDRRMC declared that a certain mountain top is at

high risk of landslide. In order to prevent casualties, the NDRRMC declared the
force evacuation of all residents living within a 6 km radius of the mountain top.
Suppose the mountain top is located at the origin on the Cartesian plane and that
1 unit is equal to 1 km. Is there a need for a family to evacuate if their house is
located at a coordinate of (6, 5)?
Applying what you have learned, do you consider the location of the family
as part of the danger zone? What will you advice to the family? Show necessary
solution to back up your advice to the family.

(This activity will be answer in pair. Their answers will be put in a graphing paper.)

B. Establishing a purpose Activity 2: Be an Artist

for the lesson

Elmo, an artist wants to sketch Mount Mayon on a Cartesian Plane. Mt.

Mayon is known for its almost perfect conical shape. He wants to make sure that
the base of the drawing is a perfect circle at the center of the Cartesian plane. He
decides that the diameter of the circle is 12 units and its altitude from the center is
10 units.
1. Show the sketch of the drawing of Elmo in the Cartesian plane and label
the parts appropriately.
2. Elmo wants to put a rectangular tower exactly 2 units away from the Mt.
Mayon’s base. If the tower has a dimension of exactly 3 by 6 units, show
also the sketch of the tower in your drawing.

(This activity will be answer individually. Their answers will be put in a graphing
paper.)

Rubrics:

Score Descriptors
20Details from the given are accurately and neatly graphed. Also, details
are properly labelled.
15 Details from the given are accurately and neatly graphed. However,
some details are not properly labelled.
10 Details from the given are not accurately graphed.
5 Incorrect graphed.
DAY 2 (GUIDED CONCEPT EXPLORATION/INDIRECT INSTRUCTION)
C. Presenting Group Activity
examples/instances of
the new lesson Materials:
- Cartolina/Manila Paper
- Marker
- Pictures/Cut outs
- Paste/Glue
- Scissor
- Ruler/Meter Stick

Follow the procedure below.

1. On a Cartolina/Manila Paper, the students will create a grid and draw a
Cartesian Coordinate Plane
2. Paste some small pictures of objects such that they positioned at
different coordinates.
3. Then draw a circle or any geometric figures of your choice that contain
these pictures.
4. Using the pictures and the circles or any geometric figures drawn on
the grid, formulate problem/s involving equation of the circle, distance
formula and midpoint formula, then solve them.

D. Discussing new After the activity, each group present their work in the class. After each
concepts and practicing group were done on presenting, their classmates will ask questions about
new skills #1
their work.
The teacher will guide each group in presenting their work.
DAY 3 (Second Periodical Examination)
D. Discussing new
concepts and practicing
new skills #2  The teacher will give the instructions before the examination.
 Remind the students about the things they should remember and they
should do before, during and after taking their examinations.
E. Developing mastery
(Leads to formative
assessment 3)

B. Finding practical
applications of
concepts and skills in
daily living

C. Making generalizations
and abstractions about
the lesson

DAY 4 (Second Periodical Examination)

D. Evaluating learning
