Job purpose
To support the Business Unit’s (BU) engagement in cross-team issues and projects. By monitoring
KPI performance, providing advice and business support the job holder will enable delivery of the
BU’s key priorities.
The key task of this role is to provide support to the General Manager, India in efficiently managing
the functioning of the office (administration, facilities, staffing, business relationships and other
aspects that may be required for the smooth day-to-day operations). In doing so, the post holder
will have to work with the International Operations and International Finance teams, as well as local
suppliers where necessary. You will help the General Manager, India in administration of strategic
initiatives and best practice in the Delhi bureau.
Within the context above, the Business Advisor will be responsible for ensuring timely and effective
support is provided for day-to-day co-operation between the Bureau and the relevant authorities in
India, ensuring best practice in the BBC’s compliance with local regulations governing such areas as
media and employment law.
● Provide leadership to the Admin team and other facilities providers in Delhi bureau and other
BBC News offices across India
● Participate in projects/working groups and initiatives providing information as required to help
group achieve project goals.
● Support the implementation of strategic priorities and policies in the bureau and other offices
by providing and collating information as required.
● Support the monitoring of the BU financial performance against budget, working with finance
specialist and the management team to devise remedial actions where required.
● Support policy and procedure compliance by working with divisional specialists (e.g. IT, HR,
Business Continuity, H&S etc.) as required.
● Provide business support as required in an innovative, responsive, customer-focused and cost-
effective manner.
● Work closely with business support functions and other key stakeholders across the BBC to
ensure that the business is effectively supported.
● Participate in the full range of support activities which includes supporting human, financial
and/or physical resource allocation and the management of workflow through the BU/team.
● Support the process of monitoring BU objectives; coordinate with members of the team on
plans to meet objectives; monitor and report progress, negotiating an appropriate structure to
measure performance going forward.
● Provide the management with business support to ensure the designated service/function is
delivered in an innovative, responsive, customer-focused and cost-effective manner.
● Co-ordinate the BU business planning calendar; ensuring delivery and monitoring output.
● Support the delivery of projects including identifying and delegating appropriate tasks and
monitoring delivery.
