One issue that has caused lots of controversy over the years is a ban on smoking in public places.
Since cigarette smoke is very harmful to people’s health, it is not humane to expose nonsmokers to
second-hand smoke without their consent. However, there are people who still ignore this rule. In this
essay, I intend to show the importance of banning smoking in public places.

Firstly, every person has a right to safety. That is why it is hazardous to make non-smokers inhale
this dangerous second-hand smoke. Furthermore, it is common knowledge that smoking causes
lots of diseases such as cancer, asthma, and many others. Thereby, I believe that the ban on smoking
can make people think about their health.
Nevertheless, some people think that smoking bans significantly infringe on the legitimate rights of
smokers. The problem is that many public places, such as restaurants, airplanes become unsuitable for
smokers. However, smokers can always light up in a smoking area. Moreover, this inconvenience can
help people to reduce their cigarette intake.
Finally, I believe that smoking should be banned in all isolated public places, as it is unfair to make
other people suffer from second-hand smoke and its negative effects.

2-Some teenagers want to live apart from their parents. Do you agree with this statement?

Nowadays lots of teenagers are faced with the choice. The issue is whether to stay in a parent’s
home or to live an independent life. There would seem to be clear benefits and drawbacks to both
options. But in my opinion, teenagers should live on their own.
Firstly, moving out is one of the most important decisions people make in life. Well, that is the way
the cookie crumbles. To my mind, teenagers who live apart from their parents become more
independent and self- disciplined. There is a simple reason for it. The youngsters shoulder lots of
duties: they learn how to plan and organize their expenses, do chores around the house, and study
their lessons. Moreover, teenagers become self-reliant and hardworking. Most of them tend to find
part-time jobs and learn the value of money.
Although many people insist that children should live with their parents until they stand on their own
feet, or else they can go astray. Personally, I disagree with this statement. Children must take
responsibility for all the choices in life and be free to make their own mistakes. Talking about parents,
they can guide or advice but should not press their opinion.
Finally, I believe that teens must live separately from their parents and be able to support
themselves financially.

the problem of parents and children is one of the most pressing issues in the world. In this
essay, I intend to show that people of different generations can meet each other halfway and even
become bosom friends.
According to a proverb, “If you want happiness for a lifetime — help the next generation”. I agree
with this statement. Firstly, parents must go with the times to understand their adolescents better.
They must express deep concern, be sincere, loving, and heedful of advice. Secondly, parents should
not be too exacting and adamant.
However, some people claim that the problem of the generation gap cannot be solved. According
to their opinion, some teenagers are ill-mannered and addicted to gambling, alcohol, or drugs. In
my judgment, the reason for all these problems is a lack of moral values or attention. That is why all
parents should better try to protect their adolescents from bad influences and give a helping hand
rather than lecture them or decrease their self-esteem.
Finally, I believe that people can bridge the generation gap using communication and mutual
understanding.

4-Many people consider that the Internet has negative effects on social interaction. Do you
agree with this statement? What is your opinion?
Nowadays people are getting concerned about the impact of the Internet on social
communication. Personally, I cannot imagine my life without the Internet.
Firstly, it helps me get in touch with my friends living abroad, be abreast of the news in the world,
find all useful information like rare books or encyclopedias . Secondly, the Internet extends the limits
of communication. Today one can make friends from foreign countries, learn about their cultures, and
improve language skills without going abroad.
We should also bear in mind that especially the younger generation spends too much time online
and often avoid face-to-face communication. Some of them tend to stay indoors rather than go for a
stroll with their friends. So there is a lot of truth about the negative effects of the internet.
Finally, I believe that the Internet promotes new acquaintances and relationships among social
groups. All the same, people should try to maintain a balance between their real and virtual life.

5= Nowadays some people are concerned that their children spend too much time on the
Internet. Do you agree with this statement? What is your opinion?

There is no doubt that children spend too much time on the Internet. There are several reasons to
prove my opinion.
Firstly, after the invention of the computer children spend less time with their friends. Most of them
would prefer to play online games or chat on the Internet rather than go out. Besides, some children
miss classes and lag behind their schoolmates. Moreover, some of them become addicted to the
computer and disobey their parents. In my opinion, in this case, grown-ups should install any
parental control program which will help them monitor their children’s use of the Internet and protect
them from viewing offensive pop-ups.
However, the Internet helps children with their school work. On the Internet, children can find lots of
useful, helpful information including encyclopedias, reference materials, and tutorials. In addition, the
Internet helps children get in touch with their friends and make new acquaintances.
Finally, I believe that parents should control their children’s activities online to protect them from
inappropriate information and control the time spent on the Internet.

6- Some people think that distant learning is the perfect alternative to traditional education.
Nowadays distant education that offers lots of educational courses and programs for all tastes and
budgets is becoming increasingly popular; As it has lots of benefits, indeed. I would like to express
my opinion on this problem.
Firstly, distance education is a brilliant possibility for many people to study from home or work; As
online education suits physically challenged people. Secondly, it is convenient for people with limited
schedules who combine work and studies or simultaneously train at several institutions. 
Thirdly, online education attracts lots of students living in remote areas.
However, some people believe that there is nothing better than traditional education. They insist
that the interaction with teachers and students is essential. A face-to-face conversation is very
important for all people. Moreover, some of them are not proficient on the Internet. Others need
special attention and tutorial assistance.
Finally, I believe that online learning can be an alternative to traditional education but cannot
replace it. In my judgment, its growing popularity in the future is evident but there will always be its
opponents who prefer face-to-face interaction.

The benefits of studying abroad are indisputable. In this essay, I intend to show clear benefits of
this option.                                 
 Firstly, as a student residing, you are immersed in the language both in and outside of school. You
have to carry out all daily activities like reading traffic signs, asking for directions, or eating out with
friends in the target language. Secondly, if you live with a host family you will improve your
conversational skills. Thirdly, you avoid speaking your mother’s tongue. You watch films, listen to
music, and carry out regular tasks in the language of the host country.
However, some people think that one can succeed without ever visiting a target country; As there
are lots of language programs to choose from in the local area. In my experience, I can assert that
people who take up immersion programs improve their conversational skills and master the language
much better than those who study in a local country. 
Finally, I believe that the best way of learning a language is to immerse yourself in the environment
of your target language.
