II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Comparing objects using light, lighter, lightest.
Skills: Comparing objects using B. Activity Proper 1.0 Presentation Class our lesson
for today is all about comparing objects using the expression long, longer and longest
I will show you
Reference: Teacher’s Guide 1 pp.63-64

III. PROCEDURE

TEACHERS ACTIVITY STUDENTS ACTIVITY

A. Preparatory Activity
1a. Daily Routine
-Leading a song
-Checking of attendance
-Greeting the class
2a.Motivation
Class I have prepared a song for everyone, so I hope
that all of you will participate. The song entitled I have
here…
I Have Here
I have here a strawberry I have here an apple, which is
lighter than the two fruits?
I have here a watermelon which is lightest among the
three! Now I know the difference between the light,
lighter, lightest. Fruits I see…

B. Activity Proper
1b. Presentation
Class our lesson for today is all about comparing
objects using the expression light, lighter, lightest.
Now, I will show you different photos of objects and
let’s see if you can guess easily which among the
object are the light, lighter, lightest.

Can someone from the class guess which from the

three animals represent the light, lighter, lightest?
The elephant is the light, and the white
rabbit is the lighter, while the little fox is
the lightest.

That is right! As we can see in the photo, the fox is a

little skinnier than the rabbit so it makes it the lightest
in the group! Good job!

As we guess which among the group of animals is the

lightest we tend to know the mass of each object,
animals and other things that we compare from one
another, so basically we are looking for its size and
mass. Mass is the amount of something that holds or
clings together while Size represents how big
something is or how large they are.

Class I have here a picture of three friends. They are

Rico, Andrea and Sammy. They brought a new bag for
the resume of classes, Let’s see their bag and guess
which among the three is the light, lighter, lightest?

Who are the three friends in the picture?

Rico, Andrea and Sammy.
What did they just have?
Bag
Look at the bad of Rico and Andrea. Who can
compare the bag of Rico and Andrea? Andrea has smaller bag than Rico so it
looks like Rico has the light carried bag
while Andrea is carrying lighter one than
Rico what Rico have.

Good Observation! How about who among the three

carrying the lightest bag? I think its Sammy, since Sammy is
carrying a sling bag which is smaller than
the two.
Well done! That’s right! Since Sammy is carrying a
sling bag which is smaller than Rico and Andrea,
Sammy can only bring minimal school things right?
so, again among the three, who has the lightest bag?
Sammy.
The lighter one?
Andrea.
The light one?
Rico.
Good Job!

2.b Modeling
You will look (or draw) for an object showing light,
lighter and lightest. You will identify among the
selected item or things are light, lighter and lightest.
We will familiarize how light, lighter and lightest
differ from each other.
The students will look and draw for objects
that can represent the expression light,
lighter and lightest.
Examples:

Wow! Good job seems like you really know how to

distinguish the mass and size of each item by
observing and understanding the concept of the objects
that you have found and drawn. Good Job! - Follow instructions
- Cooperate with the group
3b. Guided Practice - Work quietly
A. Group Activity - Listen to the leader

We will have a group activity, class. I will group you

into three group compose of 10 members. You will
choose you leader, secretary and presenter. Is it clear?
Yes teacher.
Setting of Standards

But, before we start, what are the standards to be

followed in doing a group activity?

Good job! Ok class, I hope everybody will cooperate

and please bear in mind those standards you have said.
You have 5-7 minutes to do the activity and be ready
to present your work in front of your classmates, okay?

B. Distribution of Activity Sheets

Group 1
Directions: Complete the picture puzzle and then
arrange the picture from light, lighter, lightest then
paste the “Group 1 is having Fun” below to represent
that your group is already done. Good luck!

GROUP 1 IS HAVING FUN!!

Group 2
Directions: Arrange the first set of pictures from light,
lighter, lightest. Then arrange again the second set of
pictures from lightest, lighter and light. And put happy
face ☺ to the first set of pictures and “thumbs up”
icon to the second set of pictures. Good luck!

Group 3
Directions: identify which of the plants is light then
color the light plants in red, lighter plants in blue and
lightest plants in green and then paste it on your
activity sheet. If your group is done paste the “GROUP
3 worked actively!” on the activity sheet also. Good
luck!

GROUP 3 WORKED HARD!!

C. Presentation of Works
1.c Independent Practice

Directions: Arrange the objects from light, lighter and

lightest. Write 1 for light objects, 2 for lighter objects
and 3 for lightest objects.

When we want to compare objects with

different size and mass.

Mass is the amount of something that holds

Well done class! Seems you are really good in or clings together while
interpreting, understanding and observing the objects
that I presented and you even correctly guess the right Size represents how big something is or
expression light, lighter and lightest among this how large they are.
objects.

Why do we used the expression light, lighter and

lightest?

That is right! So again, what is mass?

Good job! How about the size? What is size?

Well done class, give yourself a happy clap!

IV. EVALUATION DIRECTION:

Compare objects by writing 1, 2, and 3 to show the order from light, lighter and lightest.
