LETTER TO THE READERS

Dear Readers,

"Only the brave chooses to teach"

Everyone who wants to be a teacher can be a teacher, but it is destined for a

teacher to be brave and strong enough to become an effective teacher. Perhaps the

most challenging part of the course was being a student teacher. However, I was

able to persevere and complete this task thanks to my dedication as a teacher. I've

always appreciated my contribution to my students' growth as a student-teacher.

While academic progress is of utmost significance to the students, I also

acknowledge the value of each student's physical, social and emotional development

by going back to face-to-face instruction in full force. I learned what teaching is all

about through my experience as a student teacher. Every time I witnessed my

students use the knowledge they had learned from me, my frustrations and

challenges transformed into joy, fulfilment, and wisdom. In fact, teaching students is

priceless.

Making lesson plans and instructional materials, holding courses, reviewing

student attendance records, and never-ending learning are not the only aspects of

student teaching. In addition, it's about sharing and embarking on a new path that

both children and the student-teacher will learn from and grow from. Furthermore, I'll

be a full-time teacher in a few months, and I'm so grateful for this experience for

shaping who I am today. In addition, all the documents that will give a general

summary of my unforgettable student teaching experiences are included in this work.

This student teaching portfolio serves as an overview of the knowledge,

experience, and abilities I have acquired over this internship course. Therefore, A

iv
full-time internship under the supervision of a cooperating teacher is what the student

teaching experience is meant to offer. The student instructors are required by the

Department of Education to devote their whole academic semester to this

experience. This essay should motivate and instruct readers who work in education.

Welcome! To my unforgettable and memorable student teaching experience,

which I will never forget. May this essay inspire everyone who aspires to work in

education one day.

EXPECTATIONS FROM THE STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM

When students begin a class, they bring with them a variety of experiences,

readiness, motivations, and perspectives, as well as expectations for the teacher.

Student Teachers have a significant influence on students' behavior, confidence, and

educational advancement, and they must be prepared to take on a lot of

responsibility in the classroom. When it comes to expecting something from the

students, I have nothing to look forward to. I can't wait to see how each student's

mindset, character, and performance differ. I'm now looking forward to their active

participation, a fruitful class discussion, and a happy class connection.

The cooperating teacher often expresses concerns from the beginning and up

to the last student teaching experience. He is a professional but with fatherly care, a

teacher who has a light and pleasant side has a connection with or without class and

has no struggle in asking questions and giving his hundred percent guidance,

constructive criticism, encouragement, and support. The student-teacher will adopt

the exemplary environment in her cooperating school as time passes. A cheerful and

friendly connection with the professional teachers. Experiences in teaching as well as

in the lives of teachers on the field.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused massive chaos in the world in unimaginable

ways. Looking back over the last two years and the devastating consequences of the

pandemic that continues to this day, it is clear that education was one of the most

affected areas. The Department of Education mandates the new learning modality in

which students will move to internet platforms.

A new teaching experience using an online platform was challenging for a

student-teacher. The student-teacher must be willing to investigate the various

applications that can be useful in the classroom. To be mentally, emotionally, and

physically prepared for both expected and unexpected challenges.

2

The most important aspect of the student teaching experience is that it should

be a stepping stone to endless learning and the path to realizing my dream of

becoming a future educator. I hope the students recall our daily fruitful discussion

and my advice. I'm also looking forward to learning from our class discussion and

coming to terms with my own life.

3

REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM OBSERVATION

In this aspect, a classroom observation is one of the tools for student

teachers to establish an understanding of students' personalities, evaluate

performances, and design an action plan.

Teachers must identify more than simply their students' perceptions and

learning preferences to be effective. It is necessary for student teachers who

understand the value of reflection in education. Classroom observations are essential

for making reflective teaching transparent. It enables educators to evaluate what

works and what does not in the classroom.

Teaching in an online learning modality taught me the importance of being

patient and organized. Some students will repeatedly ask to explain the lesson again.

In this case, students are probably having trouble with their internet connection.

Student-teacher asking questions every time to the students is a helpful strategy for

an online discussion. Introducing new applications for students' education platforms

will help them explore more. Organizing students' files is a must, creating a class

record to show in class for them to remember what activities they have missed. Give

instructional materials after class to the students for them to have a copy and browse

if they want to remember the lesson. Appreciation for every student participating in

class makes them participate more.

Students learning should be assisted by different educational platforms that

may help their development during the learning process. Students may study both

within and outside of their schools, and they are not restricted explore what they want

to learn. Engaging in different educational platforms and learning programs may help

children develop a cooperative and global perspective, as long as it provides them

with experiences outside the classroom. Afterward, the students' exploration will

share with the rest of the class.

4

I'm eager to strengthen my talents in developing interactive and enjoyable

tasks and exams. I observed students' getting better and better when they have

given a chance to be creative with their performance tasks. Furthermore, a long-term

objective is to explore and build my unique classroom management style.

5

SELF-ASSESSMENT ON READINESS IN ACTUAL TEACHING

Teaching does not depend on instructional materials, available technology,

and educational platform but also on other factors, like the teachers' efforts in class,

and preparedness, especially in the era of online learning.

Imagine how pleasant it would have been if teachers could work in a flexible,

competitive, light, and bright environment. As a student teacher, I'm looking forward

to seeing it in an actual phase of teaching that there's freedom of speech, not an act

of protest or disrespectful attitude. There are new ideas and eagerness for

experimental work without sarcasm. A good working relationship among the faculty

members becomes a defining characteristic of the learning organization. Reflection in

daily teaching experiences to be more effective as a teacher.

Realizing that I am ready as a teacher was such a wonderful experience. It's

easy to get through the mindset that all we can talk about is what we'll do when we're

teachers, but we've been well-trained and have had so many rich learning

experiences, and nothing beats being able to reflect on those and how I've grown as

a student-teacher.

In almost four months of teaching, I am grateful I have experienced all of

these in the great school of Indang National High School, surrounded by kindhearted

faculty members. Through the day-to-day teaching experience with the different

personalities and performance of the students, I can say that even though I'm part of

the new learning modality, online class, I am now prepared to face the reality of

teaching in the actual phase.

COMMON CLASSROOM PROBLEMS

The education of the students was one of the most affected by the COVID-19

pandemic, with schools struggling to find reasons to remain open. Online learning

modalities have proven to be a great option in these difficult times. Developments in

Education technology, particularly in the online education industry, have risen in the

previous years, resulting in enormous technological advances.

As a result, I've observed some of the most pressing problems in online

education today. First, Students' Loss of Motivation, students in online classrooms

complain about the lack of motivation due to the absence of personal interaction

between the students and the teacher. Physical interaction between students is also

necessary for maintaining engagement, something the online learning paradigm

doesn't quite currently address. Giving students engaging and interactive lessons

may change their motivation to join the everyday class discussion. Second, the

Affordability of Gadgets and Internet Connection on Online Learning Modality for

Students' Special Needs. Despite massive technological advancements, it is still

the teacher's responsibility to be there full-time to help the student through the tasks.

But not all the time can teachers assess the student's difficulties. Because of this,

students have fallen behind their peers and asked for help with their academic

problems. Lastly, there are distractions and issues among students in their learning

environment. A student trying out new active learning may experience this problem

because of the various distractions in their educational setting. Students, like

adolescents, have obligations at home. Students struggle to modify and balance their

time for schoolwork and time for family responsibilities.

There is always a solution where there is a problem. The Department of

Education's new teaching method in eLearning has several flaws, not just listed

above. The education system is quickly developing and evolving, and it will become

the norm in education. The online education new learning modality has several
16

advantages and will make education more affordable and widely accessible. A new

generation of students seeks greater flexibility in their education.

17

FINAL DEMONSTRATION TEACHING

Finally! After almost four months of the student teaching experience here in

Indang National High School, my almost awaited special day came. My student

teaching experience has been the most fulfilling, enlightening, and motivating I've

had in ever. I had a delightful time with my students, and my cooperating teacher

helped. From the beginning, I felt supported, and he gave me the confidence I

needed to keep going. It was a pleasure connecting with my students, and I was

impressed by how much they taught me about everything.

On June 10, 2022, my final demonstration teaching began, together with my

cooperating teacher, Mr. Emanuel V. Magdaong, MT II OIC MAPEH, Mrs. Laarmie

Marges, MAPEH Department of Indang National High School, Mrs. Jazmin Cubillo,

Dean, College of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation, and the CSPEAR

panel, Mr. Angelito Penales and Mr. Amiel Cortez with our Student Teaching

Coordinator, Mr. Clark Costa. The most important people who make my Final

Demonstration Teaching possible are my students of the Grade 9 Special Science

Class of Indang National High School.

It was an unforgettable moment for the four years of an education student. I

have learned many things through the experiences in student teaching that improved

my whole self. The biggest and most important thing I've learned while teaching

students is to be confident. This experience taught me that if you come into class

happily and positively, students are more inclined to spend into the class discussion

and listen to you. After gaining my confidence in the classroom and my students'

excitement, I enjoy teaching. Students' improved performance in class increased my

optimism and even helped me resolve some of my classroom management

concerns.

Altogether, my final demonstration teaching experience with my students was

positively good. The things I'd adjust are the little and uncomplicated, and the
18

lessons I've learned are priceless. I couldn't have wished for a more cooperative

teacher or students, and I will sincerely miss the students, faculty, and Indang

National High School.

19

OVERALL REFLECTION AND SELF-APPRAISAL

My capacity to form relationships with my students is one of my finest

qualities as a student-teacher. I attempted to connect with each student, particularly

those who were challenging in class. I wanted to get more involved in the

performance of the students. Despite the difficulties and challenges, I thoroughly

loved my student teaching experience. Throughout my teaching experiences, I find

myself at amazingly low periods as well on my very confident points. I can see how it

has all developed me as a future educator.

As I reflect on this student teaching experience, there have been so many

challenges, celebrations, and lessons that I have learned. I was pushed out of my

comfort zone and grew tremendously as a student-teacher. It's my pleasure to talk

about some takeaways from this experience. Student teaching has also encouraged

me to look further than the box. Before this encounter, I depended only on the

PowerPoint approach for delivering content. My presentation style has matured to the

point that I no longer use that structure that depends only on PowerPoint

Presentation. I became more flexible and resourceful in making interactive

instructional material. Another aspect of student teaching that I learned a lot about

was classroom management. The interpersonal aspect of classroom management is

my main takeaway. There was a clear connection between improving teaching

management and developing stronger relationships with my students. There were

fewer distractions and unpleasant behaviors since the students engaged and

appreciated me more.

At last, I have greatly enjoyed the time getting to know these

students. Developing these connections is not only beneficial to me, but it also

benefits the entire class. Creating a comfortable teaching environment is essential to

the success of the whole, and I've gained a lot of knowledge about this throughout

my internship experiences.
