Description:
This course is designed to guide students to the process of successfully launching and growing an
entrepreneurial venture, including planning, raising capital, ethical, raising capital, managing
employees, and marketing products and services. The concept of creativity, innovation and
opportunity analysis are discussed.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Explain entrepreneurship , characteristics to become successful entrepreneurs.


2. Identify opportunities and generating ideas to start a new firm.
3. Explain the purpose of an industry analysis, competitor analysis and barrier to entry before
entering an industry.
4. Describe how to create a strong ethical culture at the time of launchingfor new venture.
5. Explain the purpose of financial management of a firm, and how financial ratios are used to
analyze, interpret a firm’s financial statement in an effort to increase its financial strength
and earn the highest rate of return.
6. Identify sources of financing available for entrepreneurial ventures during their early life.
7. Identify the elements of a new venture team, personal attributes that contribute greatly to a
new venture’s success.
8. Explain market segmentation, and selecting a target market by geography, demographic,
psychographic and behavioral variables.
9. Explain franchising and how it differs from other forms of business ownership for growing a
business.

On completion of this course, the student will demonstrate competencies in:

1. Personal organization, time management, resource management and responsibility through


course attendance, participation and meeting established deadlines.
2. Adaptability and learning, problem solving, reading, writing skills in effectively handling
course assignments, case studies and tests.
3. Team work, interpersonal skills, speaking, listening, leadership and assertiveness and conflict
resolution through active participation in discussions, group assignments.
4. Research using a variety of media including websites, decision making, critical thinking in
applying legal concepts, laws, theories, systems and tools in generating alternative solution
of case studies and other assignments
5. Communicating through evolving media utilizing e-mail, internet with the course professor
and research sources in completing assignments.
