The Right Level for Your Child

The nine graphic readers have been developed alongside the High Flyers
Student Book series and are a great way to further expose your child to the
reading skills necessary to become a confident and successful reader. There are
five graded levels taking students from a pre-beginner to a confident level on
the readability scale below. These levels are aligned to the Common European
Framework of Reference (CEFR), widely considered to be the international
standard for language learning.

A Story Adventure
Dr. Lunar and the Moon Crew are introduced in High Flyers level 1A, and serve as
a continuing story thread, taking students on an exciting story adventure.

Back-story
On his way out the door to school, a young boy named Roddy finds a strange
package in the doorway of his family’s New York City apartment. Three other
children in different corners of the globe — Kai in Shanghai, Lily in Moscow, and
Ruby in Jakarta — also discover similar packages resting on their doorsteps on
the very same morning. Upon opening the packages, the children find identical
wristwatches with instructions to say a specific word into the watch at a
predetermined time. Read Dr. Lunar and the Moon Crew to find out
what happens next.

Graphic Readers

Open up a world of possibilities

Going Graphic!
What Are Graphic Readers?
Graphic Readers are books written and illustrated in the style of a comic book. They combine elements
of picture books, novels, poetry and film. Graphic Readers are a written printed format, but they act like
a short film in that they tell a story through dialogue, and through visual images that give the impression
of movement. As they combine rich and supportive graphics with complex plots and narrative structure,
Graphic Readers are suitable for all reader types and levels, from complete beginners to advanced readers.

Introducing High Flyers Graphic Readers

High Flyers Graphic Readers make up an exclusive and comprehensive reading program. They are designed
to help children between the ages of seven and ten improve their reading skills. The program fully engages
your child in the reading process making him/her a successful and confident reader now and throughout
their academic career.

Why Graphic Readers?

English-language learners are motivated by graphic readers, through which they can acquire new vocabulary
and increase English proficiency, not only in reading, but in all skill areas. Since children are more motivated
to read, they read more often which in turn helps them develop the critical skills necessary to read more
challenging works. In addition to developing better readers, they serve as an important springboard for
children to build strong writing skills, including creative writing ability.
