fixed as per the drawing and without clashing with each other.
7.1 Fabrication of Forms
Dedicated shop drawing shall be prepared for the shuttering and formwork.
Allocate proper stock and fabricating area in the carpentry yard and avoid exposing
the formwork to deleterious materials
Always ensure to use the latest revision of formwork drawing for fabrication of
formwork.
The fabricated formwork shall be free of oil, grease, concrete deposits, dust, dirt, and
any other deleterious materials that can affect the strength and serviceability of
concrete.
The fabricated formwork shall be transported to the site using the appropriate mode
of transport ensuring that there is no twisting/warping and deformation of formwork
during lifting and transportation operations.
If any scaffolding is required to be installed, the contractor will follow the approved
relevant MS during that operation.
7.2 Fixing and alignment of Form / Rebar / Embedded Items
Fabricated panels shall be assembled and supported in situ. Level, plumb, and
alignment shall be given proper attention during the installation of formwork.
Beadings, grooves, and chamfers shall be accurately placed and fixed in position to
prevent dislocation during concreting operations.
Sufficient number of timber supports/jacks shall be provided and these must be
tightened using wedges to prevent buckling or movement.
Approved Form release agent shall be used if required and it should be before the
placement of reinforcement.
SRACO COMPANY
Before concreting is commenced the forms and previously cast concrete shall be
thoroughly cleaned and freed from all sawdust, tie wire, shavings, dust, dirt, and
other debris. Temporary openings shall be provided wherever required to drain away
water and remove the rubbish.
All exposed finished edges of concrete shall have a 25mm x 25mm chamfer unless
otherwise specified.
Elaborate on the survey and verification process for maintaining the location of
embedded items as per IFC before, during, and after concrete placing.
7.3 Work Approvals to Proceed with Lean Concrete/Structural Concrete Placing
Concrete release note shall be signed by all disciplines before concrete placement.
Structural elements setting out & levels shall be inspected and approved by PID as
per the requirement of SATIP and SAIC prior to proceeding with lean concrete,
formwork & reinforcement works. Location and orientation shall be checked with
respect to the IFC drawing by the SRACO survey team & verified by PID. A
consolidated survey report shall be prepared and attached to RFI.
RFI will be raised by SRACO QC for Inspection and witnessing alignment,
positioning of reinforcement, embedded material, etc. in advance, after in-house
inspection by SRACO QC and work complete confirmation from the Construction
team. Concrete will be poured only after acceptance of the work by an Aramco
representative.
Ensure that the elements are clean, ready to receive concrete, inspected, and
approved formally as per the requirement of SATIP and SAIC.
Elaborate on the survey and verification process for maintaining the location of
embedded items as per IFC before, during, and after concrete placing.
Concreting plan to be submitted for Saudi Aramco approvals prior to concreting.
7.4 Delivery of Concrete
SRACO COMPANY
Ensure that the concrete is delivered to the site within 90 minutes after the
introduction of the water to the cement.
Transit mixers shall stop for checking at a checkpoint (Testing Area) where slump
and temperature for each mixer shall be checked and samples to be taken prior to
permitting the mixer to enter the site.
Concrete delivery note shall be checked for mix design proportions, concrete type,
and quantities delivered.
Delivered concrete temperature shall be less than or equal to 35°C.
Slump shall be as per approved mix design
During the placing of concrete ensure that it is poured up to the specified level by
installing clear levelling pegs and marks where necessary.
The maximum permissible height for concrete placing/free falling shall not exceed
1.00m.
While pouring and vibrating the concrete, care shall be taken that the vibrating
needle shall not disturb the tying and spacing of reinforcement and no extra loads are
applied on the reinforcement cage.
All vibrators’ heads shall be lined with Teflon or rubber casing
7.8 Concrete Compaction
Sufficient vibrators in serviceable condition shall be on site so that spare equipment
is available in the event of a breakdown. The use of appropriate vibrators depends on
the nature and size of the structures.
Ensure that vibrators can be so manipulated as to work the concrete thoroughly
around the reinforcement, embedded fixtures, and into corners and angles of the
forms.
Where immersion vibrators are used, contact with reinforcement and all inserts shall
be avoided.
Non-metallic or metallic vibrator needle shall be used so that it adequately covered
the areas and prevent rebar & position from damage.
7.9 Construction Joints
