2. PROCEDURE
1. Do pre-use inspection of all equipment to be used and replace or repair faulty items.
1. Must have PPE – safety footwear, gloves, hardhat, goggles, face musk, protective clothing etc.
2. Must have appropriate tools and equipment in good condition.
3. Must have weatherproof covers for materials and equipment, waste containers, warning tape.
4. Consider risks and hazards in work area. Refer any concerns to supervisor. Are relevant permits in place?
5. Check if it is necessary to secure area adjacent to work. Refer to supervisor if appropriate.
6. Arrange for transport of materials and equipment to site via supervisor.

Job Description: Using a Scaffold
7. Ensure materials and equipment are secure or removed when site unattended, eg overnight or during breaks.

1. Barricade of the entire work area, place a safety watchman to keep out unauthorised persons and place warning signs: -
a. Danger overhead work.
b. No unauthorised entry.
2. All persons working in elevated positions must make use of full body safety harnesses.
3. Never allow any person to use any scaffolding without safe to use sign.
4. Always use scaffold excess ladder to climb onto or from scaffold end never climb up or down using scaffold frames.
5. Always face the ladder and use both hands don’t climb the ladder with things in your hands.
6. Under no circumstances must scaffolds been overload or excessive material been stacked on platforms.
7. Don’t allow accumulation of spillages on platforms do regular clean up and remove spillages from platforms.
8. Never allow throwing of material or equipment up to or down from scaffolds rather use rope and bucket or material hoists.
