I. calculate the gravitational forces between two objects using newton's universal law of gravitation.

Newton’s Universal law of gravitation (3 points each)

1. Determine the force of gravitational attraction between the earth (m = 5.98 x 10 24 kg) and a 70-kg
physics student if the student is standing at sea level, a distance of 6.38 x 10 6 m from earth's center.

2. Determine the force of gravitational attraction between the earth (m = 5.98 x 10 24 kg) and a 70-kg
physics student if the student is in an airplane at 40000 feet above earth's surface. This would place
the student a distance of 6.39 x 106 m from earth's center.

3. Determine the force of gravitational attraction between the Star 1 (m = 9.98 x 10 32 kg) and a 1,250-
kg spaceship with a distance of 9.49 x 106m from the nearest habitable planet.

4. Determine the force of gravitational attraction between the 2 black holes m87 (2600 x 10 32 kg) and
Sagittarius A (1900 x 1029kg) with a distance of (9.49 x 1019m) from the nearest habitable planet.

5. Determine the force of gravitational attraction between the 2 black holes m87 (6923 x 10 32 kg) and
Sagittarius A (6986 x 1029kg) with a distance of (10.69 x 1019m) from the nearest habitable planet.
