Procedures
“Complete Me”
- Each group will be given pieces of a tangram puzzle.
- Each piece of the tangram puzzle differs from each other, it contains different operations of functions that
needs to be performed (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, composition) See attached tangram
4.1 Introductory puzzle pieces.
Activity - They will perform the given operations. Once they reach the answers, they will search from their
(5 minutes) classmates, who has the same answers as them. They will then assemble their tangram.
- The first group to be able to complete their tangrams will be declared the winner.
Questions to be given after the activity:
 How did you find the activity?
Were there any difficulties encountered? How did you cope up with it?
Present this sample problem to the class.
 Dina had already read 2 books this year before joining a book club, and she plans to read 1 book every
month now that she has joined. Write an equation that shows the relationship between the months x and
4.2 Activity the total books ready after the class.
(10 minutes) In your group, create a real-life problem and create a mathematical model of the function.

4.5 Application After 2 minutes on a treadmill, Jenny has a heart rate of 82. After 3 minutes she has a heart
(15 minutes) rate of 86. Assuming that Jenny's heart rate H is a linear function of the time T on the
treadmill, write H as a linear function of T.
