STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

INTRODUCTION

I am excited to compose my Statement of Purpose, which covers my personal and family

background academic details, goals, and reasons for choosing a specific country and education
providers, the courses relevance to my future plans, educational objectives and more. The
purpose of Statement of purpose (SOP) is to request permission to attend Stanley College for a
Diploma of Business leading to a Bachelor of Business that depicts my motivation for studying
as well as my intentions to return home country along with financial information.

Namaste, I am Manasvi Chaudhary the active, hardworking, industrious, and focused daughter
of Mrs. Sarita Chaudhary. I am permanent resident of Kohalpur Municipality Ward No. 01,
Banke, Lumbini province, Nepal having passport number 11739964. I was born on 21 st April
2002. As a Nepali citizen, I am proud to have grown up in this country of natural wonders, scenic
views, lush jungles, towering Himalayan Mountains. Taking about my hobbies, watching drama
is my hobby and my source of recreation

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST

Regarding my education background, I completed my school in the year 2017, from Adarsh
Higher Secondary School, Nepalgunj, Nepal, securing GPA of 3.50. I completed my Secondary
level (+2) from Brightland College, Nepalgunj, Nepal in the year 2019 having GPA 2.54 under
the National Examination Board in Management faculty. After completing my +2 level, I wanted
to pursue my Diploma of business in Australia, however, due to the pandemic I was not able to
continue for 2020 intake. Immediately, I started working as an Administrative Assistant in
Deepak English Medium High School for more than 2 years. Afterwards, I appeared on PTE
exam on 11 March 2022 and secured an overall 46 score (40 in listening, 47 in reading, 51 in
speaking and 45 in writing), then I applied for diploma of business in Australia.

FAMILY DETAILS AND FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS

Talking about my family, my grandmother's name is Mrs. Jokhani Tharuni, uncle's name is
Anshu Man Chaudhary, and mother's name is Sarita Chaudhary. They will be sponsoring my
entire study and study in Australia. My family has an annual income of NRs. 2,495,000.00
equivalent to AUD 27,599.55. My mother earns NRS. 1,57,5000.00 annually (AUD 17,422.56)
from her business (Manasvi Khadya Suppliers). My grandmother is involved in agriculture and
earns annual income of NRs. 570,000.00 (AUD 6,305.30). My uncle earns annual income of
NRs.350,000.00 (AUD 3,871.68) from animal husbandry. For my education, my mother has
maintained an education loan of NRs. 4,000,000 equivalents to AUD 45,478.11 from NCC

Bank (Nepal Credit & Commerce Bank Limited) with 15% per annum for a period of 10 years
(120 monthly installments) on 28 April 2022. Besides that, my grandmother holds the property of
NRs. 20,643,849.66 equivalent to AUD 237,258.36. I would like to clarify that my sponsors have
the needed financial resources to pay for my education. My sponsors would bear my tuition fees,
accommodation, insurance, and travel costs throughout my stay in Australia.

PLANS REGARDING LIVING

Though, I have some of my friends in Perth, but I would prefer to live in rent nearby to the
college periphery so that I could give my proper time to studies and achieving cent-percent
attendance. I have checked many websites for accommodations
(https://www.realestate.com.au/rent/in-perth+-+greater+region,+wa/list-1) and will rent unit in
suburb nearby campus.

WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING SINCE 2019

After completing my higher secondary examinations, I got introduced to Deepak English

Medium School, Khajura, Nepalgunj for the post of Administrative Assistant by the Vice
Principal (Mr. Ashok KC). As I was hardworking and diligent, I accepted the offer to utilize my
leisure period while waiting for my grade 12 results. As I have majored in Business Studies in
grade 12, I got additional positive lessons to broaden my management skills while working as an
administrative assistant. My responsibilities during my work period are:

 Assisting the school principal in the planning.

 Organization
 Assessment and student conduct
 Management of an assigned school’s activities and programs.

As my result was published in 2020, there was distress situation of COVID-19 all around the
world which did not left Nepal in exception. This led the whole world to shut down all facilities
including education services which put a halt in my academic journey. Though I was not able to
continue my further studies, I did not remain vacant in those pandemic situations. I remained
engaged in my post as an administrative assistant. My work period during pandemic made me
more motivated and oriented toward my future study plans as I did my job via online mode as
well during peak COVID time. As the world was recovering from the effects of Corona virus, I
started to research for best country, colleges, and available courses that suited my interest and
career plan.

WHY AUSTRALIA

about:blank 2/17
29/07/2023 00:37 SOP1 - Practise materials

Australia is one of the best countries in providing quality education globally. It is one of the most
popular countries in the world for aspiring international students seeking quality education.
Besides, Australia is a fast-growing economy with countless opportunities and safe environment
to live, study and build our career. Higher education in Australia is marked by top quality and an
excellent reputation worldwide. Although there are lots of universities/colleges around the world,
top 7 universities which are ranked among 100 universities are from Australia. The reports states
that crime rate in Australia is much lower than in other countries. Also, it is a very peaceful
country for international students with reliable, aspiring, and pleasant environment for study.

Before choosing Australia, I had done lots of research related to other countries like USA, UK,
Canada, and even few European countries as well. But unfortunately, there are lots of differences
in terms of fees, cost of living, weather condition, and policies for foreign students. I found that
the cost of living and tuition fees of UK and USA is high as compared to those of Australia.
Furthermore, I believe that Australia is safer for foreign students like us. One of the top reasons
for choosing Australia is that students can live, learn, and grow based on their own timelines. I
can experience quality education and a good lifestyle in Australia. There is an added advantage
of studying in Australia for international students because they get exposure and can expect
growth in terms of their career by 15% annually, since higher education comes with its pros for
international students. There are part time job options for international students to gain work
experience while studying. This helps in making new connections at the base level and helps in
networking at a higher stage.

Australia is a safe and welcoming destination, proud of its own enormous cultural diversity. The
interests of international students in Australia are protected by Australian government legislation:
the Education Services for Overseas Students Act. Only institutions which are registered by the
Australian Government can recruit students from overseas.

The following table below provides the comparison of Australia, US, UK, and Canada in terms
of average tuition cost, climate and living expenses.

From the above table, I concluded that Australia is better than other countries in terms of tuition
cost, climate and living cost. After doing all the research, I chose to study in Australia and found
that it has affordable living standards and tuition cost than the United States, the United
Kingdom and Canada.

REASONS FOR NOT CHOOSING NEPAL

I have not chosen my homeland, Nepal, for higher education because in our context the approach
of education is more theoretical. Universities and Colleges providing decent education are in
very low numbers. There are universities like Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu University
(KU), Pokhara University (PU) providing the same degree but the education structure in these
universities is very rigid and complicated. There are limited numbers of education providers like
the British College, Kathmandu (https://www.thebritishcollege.edu.np/), Apex College
(https://www.apexcollege.edu.np/%20%20), Shankar Dev Campus
(https://www.shankhardevcampus.edu.np/%20), Islington College (https://islington.edu.np/%20),
DAV College of Management (https://davcollege.edu.np/%20), and so on which are not as
qualitative as in foreign countries.

Also, due to the political instability and frequent strikes, exams are not held at the proper time,
and results are delayed, which causes academic sessions to be relatively more extended than the
academic calendars of universities and colleges. This led me to think about pursuing my study
in Australia rather than in Nepal. Similarly, if I study in Nepal, I will not be able to develop
network in a multicultural and diverse international environment. Nepal is a developing country,
its degree is not recognized globally, and highly reputed multi-national companies do not give
preference for jobs that graduate from Nepal. Besides, course curriculum here in Nepal are not
updated, and teaching materials are very few and follow the traditional method of teaching and
are mainly based on theories rather than practical knowledge, which does not meet the current
status of the global market that requires technical and creative personnel with business-related
skill.

REASONS FOR NOT CHOOSING OTHER COUNTRIES

I believe that it is essential to analyze the education system and the amenities for the
international students of the particular nation when he/she decides to study vocational and higher
education for his successful career and future life with infinite job prospects or opportunities.
Before I decided to study in Australia, I have researched about the education systems and the
facilities given to the international students of the United Kingdom, the United States of America
and Canada.

The USA: It is obvious that America is one of the most preferred destinations for international
students. However, the rising tuition fees are even pricier for international students to afford
studying there in recent days. Beside this, students need to go through various enrollment process
and tests to get admission (https://blog.iefa.org/2021/01/18/how-much-does-it-cost-for-an-
international-student-to-study-at-university-in-the-us/).

The UK: The United Kingdom is best known for housing world-class educational institutions
that offer a variety of subject areas. Despite their reputed and recognized degrees, it is least
preferred by Nepalese students in present days due to high fee structure. Beside this, the UK has
a variable climate change and is difficult to predict, winters are extremely cold with temperature
up to 0-degree Celsius. Because of this all I decided to drop the idea to study in UK
(https://www.idp.com/uae/blog/living-cost-uk-for-international-students).

Canada: Canadian colleges and universities have higher reputation and recognition. However,
Canadian universities are also known for their higher acceptance rates and notoriously low
graduation rates. While having researched about the living expenses and life standard, I found
that the living expense in Canada is quite higher and expensive than Australia. Besides, the visa
process in Canada is quite lengthy from Nepal which I found a bit time consuming
(https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/news/2021/12/the-impacts-of-a-
changing-climate-canadas-top-ten-weather-stories-of-2021.html).

To conclude, all the factual information according to my research, among the countries above, I
have found Australia from all prospective better than other countries. Thus, I have chosen
Australia as my final educational destination for my proposed courses and universities as per
their directions and course outcomes to build my profound professional career in my home
country, Nepal. To convey a precise decision, I could not find the factual alluring factors like
Australia have. Thus, I found Australia the perfect country for my higher education.

WHY PERTH
Perth is an incubator of knowledge and a place to collaborate, connect and learn. Perth is the
capital city of Western Australia, with a population of almost 2 million people, and is famous for
being the most isolated city globally. It is widely regarded as the ’Education City’ of Australia,
and students who study in Perth know that they are receiving the very best education that
Australia can offer. Perth has one of the lowest costs of living in all Australian cities. It has an
efficient public transportation system and inexpensive accommodation options and food.
International students who choose to study in Perth will learn in a cosmopolitan environment at a
lower cost than they would pay to study elsewhere in Australia. The education system of West
Australia is recognized as one of the best systems in the world. It has four world-class
universities, several top-notch schools, English language colleges, and vocational institutions
that provide assured quality education. Also, because of less traffic, people enjoy living in a
pollution-free environment.

Compared to other major cities, Perth enjoys a low crime rate, making public transport, the city
streets, and campuses a safe and secure environment. Perth also offers many part-time work
opportunities for international students. One of the noticeable things about Perth is its cultural
diversity. People of more than 200 different nationalities live, work, and study in Perth, speak
over 170 languages and practice over 100 religions. Many nationalities have formed cultural
groups for local and international members to socialize and connect with other people with
similar interests and backgrounds. Perth is WA’s cultural hub for arts and entertainment, with the
city and its surrounding providing the perfect backdrop for festivals and cultural events all year
long. Other important attractions of Perth include efficient public transportation, affordable
lodging, and delicious food.

Similarly, Western Australia also achieved the best performance in vaccination as more than 95%
of adults are double vaccinated in such COVID crises around the world
(https://www.wa.gov.au/government/covid-19-coronavirus/covid-19-coronavirus-vaccination-
dashboard). This led me to think more positively about my safety and well-being.

The comparison of Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra:
